Somebody gave me one of these to fish this spring and I had great luck with it. In fact I had such good luck one trout took the fly and most of my leader, so I can't use that fly as a model. Anybody have any suggestion books or articles on tying soft hackles. Personally I can't see  much difference between that, and the wooly bugger, but the fish could. Thats all they would take on the creek I was fishing.

pgh_flytier,

Take a look in the fly archives at this website maybe they'll be something there.

Ahhh, my favorite way to fish for trout!  You can make a soft hackle out of
most any pattern.  Try tying a few of your favorite nymphs with a soft hackle
collar or just as legs.  You may be pleasantly surprised on your next fishing trip.

Steelhead love soft hackles.

Especially a hare's ear body with dark brown soft hackle (Partridge).
