Fished both days in the Ballpark area. Sunday was a good day, Monday was painfully slow. Some kings and coho moved thru, but not the big run that everyone hoped for. Alot of people I talked to were scratching their heads on the DSR's fish report, not happy to say the least. Anyway if you missed this weekend, you can stop kicking the dog. It looks like at this point this season may go into extra innings. Still seeing fresh fish, and the eggs are real tight in the females. Also guys the beer cans are not biodegradeable, you carried them in full, they're lighter empty. Just a thought.

From what I've seen---many snaggers/lifters struggle in water that's 750 and above.Might be the reason for the conflicting reports.

I played down the ball park sunday downstream of the ramp I put 10 fish on all on blue sacks. Had one steelhead on I nicknamed it lightning thats how fast he was across the run and came unhooked. It was a good run of cohos I kept 1 for my grandparents.Left around 10 or so. try to fish with elbow to elbow and then a crew showed up across from the pool the fish were 3 ft in front of them but they had to cast on our side, caught the same guy twice.Enough!!

After my recent defeat up there I may need a few weeks to recover. My body is just now catching up on rest, but my mind is still wondering WTF went wrong. There weren't many fish down river & the ones up top all had shell shock.
As much as I love getting up there it pretty much sucked. :boohoo:.

Yeah I've noticed alot people over fishing the water in front of them. I guess if they can't see the fish they're lost. Salmo I've already had a few of your trips, but 1 sore arm day washes the bad ones away. Thats why they call it fishing not catching.

SAL, I feel your pain. I am lucky to get there for a day or 2 and I haven't hit squat yet, but I still have the fever. Are there as many ppl up there fishing for steel and browns? I'll ask u for more info when that time comes.

I only saw a few fishing for Steel & Browns, but I didn't fish everywhere.
What I did notice was a great number of chuck & duck fishermen.
I don't know for sure, but it seems they have a 1 oz. sinker about 4 feet away from the hook, then a smaller shot near the hook. They strip in a little line until they feel something, or whatever then give a big yank.

I saw a dude with a spin outfit with a float drifting egg sacs while in the middle of a pack of these lifters. It was bizarre & satisfying to see a fellow fish fairly even when he could have easily rigged up & done the same as the others.

Sal, that is why I do not like the crowds during the salmon runs. I know what you mean, I alway fish by game rules so that all can enjoy and respect each other under such crowed conditions. It also allows the fish some time to adjust and not freak out .. man I do not like lifting the poor fish.. let them strike the bait as is the game. GL next time.. I do not know when or if we are going to make a trip in oct. yet.
