I tie my rock caddis on a 14 0o 16 scud hook with a gold bead, green flash dubbing and a few wraps of peacock at the collar.Does anyone have a good pattern to throw out on here that I can look at? A variation that may be "buggier"?

My standard nymph style anymore.  Vary the colors and size to suit location.  This olive colored one in 14 and 16 is always on a starting rig for me.  You can use more or less dubbing around the head for bugginess and beads are optional if you like (I don't).  Tons of variations on a simple style.

Rick,

I tie some of those too, but my shell backs always twist.  That hook, in the pic, looks sharp as all get out.  wow.

Favorite caddis larvae, Polish woven caddis, lots of lead, it sinks like splitshot, size 8 or 10 scud hook:

Or I'll just wrap green embroidery floss around the shank, rib with very fine gold wire, and black dubbing head.  Super fast and easy, size 12 or 14.

I forgot about this one.  Smaller green caddis, #16 or 18, I use the Viagra Caddis.  As simple a tie as there is.  I don't have any pictures, just make sure you include "Caddis" in your google image search for the pattern.

1) Tie in green wire followed by a strip of green foam
2) Tie in some light dun ostrich herl
3) Dub the body with tan dubbing stopping a few eye legnths short of the eye
4) Wrap the herl forward to the same spot
5) Pull the foam up and forward tie off
6) Rib the wire forward tie off and touch a dark brown marker over the top of the foam
7) Tie in black swiss straw for wingcase, dub a bit of dark brown rabbit stroking the fibers back with each turn.
Add a touch of weight to off set the bouyancy of the foam

Anadromous, Gadabout here. Nice to see you and Damion up on the stream. I have a buddy that ties a rock worm. It is a cased rock worm. He uses grey or brown haresear dubbing for the case at the rear of the hook. Coming out of the case he uses olive or chartreuse medium or small chenile. He then ties in some peacock herl in the front for a head. It is truely a deadly pattern. Especially for trout. Did real well on Oil Creek this year with it. Also fished well up on the East Branch of the Clarion this past summer. Hope this helps.
