I attend school in pittsburgh and have heard stuff here and there about raccoon state park. I was wondering if its worth fishing? If so what do you normally catch? Any Crappie or sauger??? Thanks

I like the coon. Obviously its a big trout lake so if your into that its a good place to be. I personally like the place for bass and never really fish it for anything else. Since thats the case i cant really comment on any of the other species as ive not really paid attention to anyone else when i was there. I have seen a ton of bluegill in there but none of any real size. Hopefully someone who's fished for some of the other species that's in there can chime in for ya.

Truot, trout, trout, way to many paper thin craps, decent amount of bass (the bigger ones are there but elude me) walleye when I'm not fishin for them, some nice ski's. Have done decent on sauger (saugeye?) in hard water. For sure a place to probe.

I am the king of catching dinks at Racoon. For me I am happy to catch something. As stated above I have caught muskies and walleyes fishing for bass in the lake too. There are some rudimentary depth charts available at the park office on the west side of the park for free. If I can't catch fish in the lake I hit up the spillway below the dam and can always get something. Here is one from last week

If your hunting trout this is the time and place! Had 4 trout in 5 or 6 cast, then the stocking truck showed up!
