Went out today for a few hours and caught nothing but small perch and one okay crappie.  We fished for panfish, 'eyes, and anything that would bite.  Talked to one couple who had just got done fishing for two days and never got a bite.  Also talked to two other guys who said they had fished for four days straight without a bite.  I believe both sets of people we talked to were fishing for 'eyes.  Lady at the bait shop said she only saw one 'eye brought in over the last week and the fishing has been very sporadic.  Wish I had better info., but it doesn't sound like anyone is having luck.  Hope you can do better than we did.

When we were out at Pymy today I saw giant weeds sticking out of the lake, from a distance it looked like a cornfield back in some of the bays.  I'm sure they are there every year, but this is my first time being out on the lake this late.  We put in at the the end of the road launch in Linesville and they were located in the bay on the immediate right.  Anyone know what these are and if they carry any significance?  Just curious.

I took a nice trip to Pymy this past week.  Got to hit the nice weather stretch and some chilly bones that moved through during the weekend.  No eyes for me, but managed to stay busy with some perch, crappie, and catfish.  One channel around 24", 14" crappie, and 13" perch, all others were on the smaller size.  Did see a guy with 3 really nice eyes at the bait shop.

That lake is huge...  We spent 3 full days fishing, and didn't see 1/3 of the lake.  Not that many people out either, atleast on the south end of the lake.  We keyed in on some nice structure, which that lake is full of.  Also full of very shallow spots, which my motor decided to find one...  I can see why there is a hp restriction.  Luckily I was only going about 3-4 mph and killed the motor quickly.  My prop is a bit dinged, but don't think any major damage.

Thanks all that have provided some good info.

should add, your wasting your time looking for shallow eyes this time of year, look for deep water just north of the dam and remember the 2 words----------- BLADE BAITS

Not sure the rise to 20hp will make much difference, if people actually obey the law.  But that does have guys running 40hp with 20 stickers, instead of 20hp with 9.9 stickers.  40hp on a 14' aluminum will likely get you rolling around 40mph, and could very likely kill someone if they bottomed out at full throttle.  If they allowed unlimited with a speed limit, I highly doubt people would obey that.  Also, many more heavier boats, sitting lower in the water would bottom out.  And add a ton of traffic.

I did hear about the dam and below, but didn't venture.  I wish that I did.  Blade baits seem to be the word for fish, but spent most of the time bouncing them in 12-25 FOW without a nibble.  Not sure if I work them correctly.  My father in law got a nice crappie on one though.  I think the warm front that moved in messed things up a bit?  Most fish that I was marking were suspended around 4-5 feet deep.  Very likely not walleye.

All the 20hp limit did was make 95% of the boats out there legal.  I don't think it will mean much more traffic other than the fact it's cheaper to run a 20hp than an unlimited at Conneaut, and people will start to buy the smaller boats.  Lucky for us Pyma is a huge lake and even on a busy day it isn't that bad.

Been hammering nice Crappie on south end of lake as of late! Find some good structure in & around 16' of water & give it a try, all it takes is putting the time in to look.........gonna look for Walleye soon also. This time of the year can be some fantastic fishin".....

I'm new to blade fishing (only had a boat for a year).  I tried using them from shore, but got about 3 casts in, before breaking off.  $2.50-$4 per got me looking for new techniques...  Do you guys cast and jig, or vertical jig them?  I tried both, with no success.  Any colors seem to be preferable?

I was staying at the Jamestown cabins.  There were a ton of bait fish moved in at night, but didn't get ahold of anything following them in.  Maybe alewives?  I did hear and see a bunch of larger fish breaking, not sure if feeding or just breaking the surface.

pork, most guys vertical jig, same as ice fishing.  you are down in the right spot.  as for the fish breaking at night, this time of year the walleyes can move in to feed on forage fish.  if you have a big rapala or similar lure, try casting to them.

still a lot of big fish.  september net surveys do show hope for 2010.  it hurts me to see the walleye fishery fail the way it did, especially since i own the lake.
