Gentlemen,
I just had to pass on two experiences I had this weekend.  The first was when I was in my local mall with a friend and we were approached by a person with a clipboard who asked if we would take a survey.  Since I didn't have my transit or chains with me I was going to refuse but my lady friend agreed.
The questions were all about the election and every time we gave an answer the lady came back with a "But don't you believe. . ." follow up question.  Finally I patiently explained that we were both going to vote for McCain and I figured that would be the end of it and I started to go.  Well the woman followed us and kept badgering us with questions designed to pressure us to vote democratic.  We had to enter a store to get away from her.
The second event occurred that afternoon.  I was at my lady friends house when a mini-van with get out and vote placards plastered on it came into the development  The people who got out of the car went door to door and were handing out Republican information.  When the one woman came up to us (we were sitting on the porch) we stated that we were voting democratic locally and  repubican nationally, she thanked us inquired if we needed transportation to the polls and left.
Not 20 minutes later another van entered the area and again people got out and were going door to door.  Once again I stated very calmly that we were conservative democrats and were voting for McCain and the woman almost had an apoplexy!  She wanted to know how we could cross party lines and didn't we know that Obama was the best choice and how he and the democratic party were going to change America and didn't we care about our country.  The speech lasted a good 2-3minutes and we never got a chance to say a word.  (I know, with me that stretches belief).  Finally my lady friend had to ask the woman to leave.
About 10 minutes later another neighbor came over and commented that she had just been visited by :"The most obnoxious young man" trying to get her to vote democratic.  She replied that she was voting democratic locally (as we were) but she was voting Republican nationally, and the man harrangued her with almost the same speech the woman had used on us.
NOW, these are just personal observations;  but the differing styles of approach indicate a fundamentaly different attitude to peoples rights to free opinions.  Just my 2 cents.  I'll be glad when this is over.

you think that is bad, i had some democrats force me into a local gander mountain and forced me to buy outdoor supplies that i did not need.  they threatened to come back and do it again and again.

jack, for two solid weeks we have had them come up our street with their clipboards.  best way to keep them away is to put a sign in your yard.  ie: obama sign will keep the dems away and the repubs further away...would work the same with a mccain sign.  we were only bothered once in two weeks.

Rap,
I though of putting up a sign that said:   Achtung!  Minen!  But maybe I should have had one of each signs.

Just draw a chalk outline on the driveway and scatter some of their pamphlets around, maybe add a little ketchup and some of that "crime scene" tape.

Indy,

Any entity, political party, service organiztion, business, etc, have representatives that portray a good image of said organization, or a poor one. There are also many republican that suggest that to think differently from them, or to support their opposition, is un-American. Should I view that as the thought process of the party as a whole, or all republicans? NO, and I don't.

we have seen quite a few yards with both candidates' signs in them.  ready for a shocker, we drove through two of the more affluent communities in our area and obama signs outnumbered mccain signs there by at least two to one.  not all wealthy are republicans or mccain-palin supporters.

Spoon,
Again, I am a conservative Democrat.  I don't fololow the religious right or arch conservatives.  By the same token I don't like it when people get in my face about my choices.  I have spent wayyyy to much time doing research on the parties in this election and I made my choice based on what I found.  Everyone is entitled to vote for whom they want and I will support anyone who get elected.   I really feel that we do NOT have the best candidates running this year.  I would have preferred Biden against Romney.  That would have been a real tough choice for me.

I wish everyone had the same sentiment as your last phrase. I don't want to see a president McCain, but if there IS one, I hope he does a great job.

Inds: Your not alone! This election is very disappointing. I too, have been the victim of the "democtratic" wave of assaulters. I have never seen before, people, (mainly very young), assault me with their "views" while polling at our local store's parking lots. They have done the same to me, ask a question, then try to make you change your mind with the propaganda the tell you.

I try my best to keep up to date with each candidates policies. When I would say why I fety that way and what fact makes me feel that way, they say I am "misinformed" or "not up to date".  The misinformed, maybe I am (?). The part of being up to date, did obama change his mind AGAIN this week? With the arrogance and pushiness these people have, they try to make you feel ingorant. I really have to wonder how many people tell them what they want to hear so they shut up!

I know some Dems. in office that are really good people. They do the best that they can for the community. Even they are embarrassed by how the obama campaign is handling themselves. My friends/relatives across the country have complained of similar treatment. It's as almost if they are saying, "you don't know what's good for you, WE do!"

Haven't WE, on BOTH sides, been doing the same thing here for months?

I know some Reps. that feel the same way about the McCain campaign. Even Colin Powell expressed that sentiment toward McCain ( who he considers a friend ).

You can avoid all that, by pointing out that a SECRET ballot, is the AMERICAN way. Just don't tell them who your're voting for, OR why.

Spoon: "I wish everyone had the same sentiment as your last phrase. I don't want to see a president McCain, but if there IS one, I hope he does a great job."

Spoon I agree with you--- visa-versa!  But, I will not support ANY president's policies/actions that I disagree with, just because he/she(?) is in office.

I have never seen people, supporters of ANY campaign, act like this before in public. In my experiences there is a bitterness against me that I disagree with what they are saying. I have yet to have one of the "polsters" leave without being actually pissed off!

The people who were supporting past candidates of the Dem. party would atleast say, "Thank you for your time". IE: Kerry, Gore, Clinton 2X, etc... While we would talk, there was discussion. Not this, for the lack of better words, anger or frustration, I have seen in this election.

I guess it didn't help because I was holding a bible in one hand and my "assault" weapon in the other... (just joking! relax everyone!)

Amazing how peoples actions change when HISTORY CAN BE MADE!!!!!  as opposed to just having another president. I think if I hear that phrase one more time from another Obama supporter, I'm going to throw up.

just remember, rap, this is our country as much as it is theirs.  who ever gets in, remember that the keyboard in front of you can send them messages as well as us.  we have a right to dissent, to protest and to demand integrity.  don't care if it is a dem or repub, if they don't do their jobs, let them hear from you because:

john, i received seven in the last two days (four on sunday) plus three more calls.  how many trees were killed for this campaign?  i found this campaign to be the most disgusting.  grendel may have the right idea.

Tired of it all. Can't wait to see the shiftless bassturds tomorrow waiting to hand out more paper at the voting site and trying to tell me who to vote for.

My mother in law is one of them every year.

Don't say WHAT happens both ways? What's your point?

That Clarion is highly Democratic, and Democrats are more organized, and active there, but the same can't be said of Republicans elsewhere? OR? That someone tore down all the McCain signs, but it NEVER happens to Obama signs in other regions?

Spoon, the Clarion Republican party used to be well organized until following this springs primary for State Rep. The endorsement that the sitting Rep gave to one of the candidates put a major split in the party. Couple that with an ongoing effort by the county Dems to rebuild and reorganize a party that had stumbled for many years and that's how you get where it is right now. I won't be surprised if the Dem wins the seat, I've even seen signs in previously staunch Republican supporters yards that say "Republicans for Ellenberger"!

i don't have a digital camera so call me a liar!
i never seen repub. posters duct taped to light poles the day of an election!
i did see that the dem. window didn't have mcain/palin posters on it. i'm sure it isn't legal but i don't have the specifics of the law.

do you realy believe that there were mcain signs duct taped on the poles?
you want to make a bet? make it worth my while and i'll get a signed statement of your accusation. i know the cops that were on duty and i'll ask them if they seen mcain signs. (oh, maybe it was the secret republican gun toting, bible thumping society with sheets over their heads)

my point was that anything anybody says anti obama. you and others will say 'it happens both ways'. i was just preparing for that statement.

but the same can't be said of Republicans elsewhere? OR?
my case in point. there you go. where has this happened?

So you're angery that Democrats are more enthused than Republicans this time? Again what's your point? I'll gladly take your word that those signs are taped there ( don't doubt it a bit ). Yet you won't afford me the same courteousy, and YES I HAVE seen Rep signs taped to light poles on election day.

By the way. I didn't consider your comments "anti Obama", but more a reflection of your anger over the support he has.
