if you take 422 towards kittanning there is a delayed harvest area right before you get to worthington. we've caught some nice trout there before.
but check the regs because you can only keep them at certain times of the year.

Bull Creek has a nice DHALO area that is just a few miles south of the Butler Co. line in Allegheny.

Lots of open areas on Thorn Creek, which gets stocked from near Saxonburg all the way out into Penn Township.  It almost all runs through privately owned land, but MOST is open to fishing.  There are some posted areas, so tread carefully.  In some years, I have caught trout here as late as January.  Not big numbers, but a few in places where they can hold over through the summer when conditions are right.

Have never fished it, but as FisherChic said, Buffalo Creek DHALO sounds pretty nice from guys I have talked to.  Also, Slippery Rock Creek (again, which I have never fished) seems to fish pretty well for a good portion of the year from what I hear.

Bull Creek is closer to us, but we've only been there a couple times and I haven't caught anything there.
The litter is really bad there. that's frustrating to me because I know I can't take enough garbage bags with me to clean it all up

The Delayed Harvest area - surprise - doesn't get too bad with litter.  No worms, fireballs & powerbait = no worm containers and jars chucked on the bank.

Checked out a couple spots there a few weeks ago, and saw very few fish, but didn't do too much walking.

FlyfishermanPA - you might get some more info on the southwest board about Butler Co.

actually the garbage/litter I was talking about wasn't fisherman related, down at the far end of the DHALO are it looked like people were dumping trash, and there was a dead deer carcass lying there too.
