My older brother lives in Spring, TX a suburb north of Houston. He just got power Monday, 10 days after loosing it when the storm hit. They had minor roof damage and a downed tree - they were lucky. He shared a generators, fridges, beer, water and food with their neighbors. His boy scout training paid off as he and his wife were well prepared and did all cooking on a propane camp stove. They had plenty of batteries, lights, water, and can food. Other than the power, the only negative was they waited 1 to 3 hours to get gas when it was needed. He did say he is getting a permanent generator for the house this winter.
