Agreed!   They look just like the trout I have been filleting.  I had not heard about pink walleyes being introduced to PA, but anything is possible I suppose.  I was trout fishing as well on the first day of walleye, but I am ready to change gears toward crappie and walleye.

I thought the same thing when I first saw that pic, but, I have been  wrong before...........The bicolor reminds me of pellet heads

I don't see any zippers on the skin sides, have to say they're trout.  Good job on the filets though.

It doesn't actually say walleye fillets. Could be trout caught on the walleye opener.

Maybe this wasn't the best way to approach this, but of course these were trout.  Some dam nice ones if I may say so myself.  The camera dosen't do them justice.  But oh well, just another plate of pelletheads.  Anyhow, my point was, and maybe I should make this it's own thread, but how many times have I heard about walleyes, perch, crappie, and bluegill tasting better than trout?  A million times.  I actually did a taste test two years in a row with all these fish and both times trout came out #1 by three people and the other ones where out of the ordered desired in the first place by the other taste testers.  I think I know what's happening.  It's more prestigious to catch walleye, big bluegill, crappie, and perch.  So to say they taste better gives people the impression you can catch them when meanwhile you have no luck at all fishing for them.  I proved myself by catching them and making them and I proved everybody was full of crap with the taste test.

It has nothing to do with prestige of the catch......That is a heck of a plate of fillets by any standard, but I would question the pallate of anyone who picked pellet heads over walleye or perch that have been feeding on bait in open water for a year or two.  I have done the taste tests, trout always loses.

B.T.W.  I am not a fish snob by any means.  I spent plenty of years eating whatever I could catch, which most of the time was trout....Just saying if I have the choice, there is no choice.

Agreed!  I quit fishing trout after high school because i figured out they were not great table fare!  I DO NOT feel "more prestigious" catching and eating my crappie, walleye, and perch, but i do feel more satisfied with my meal.  I am sure there are some very good recipes for trout that make them more palatable, but I prefer the taste and texture on the formentioned fish so that is what I fish for.  It has nothing to do with prestige at all!  I am all for fishing what you like to fish for and NOT wasting was is taken.  That said I will be hitting Shenango tomorrow for the crappies while I can still get out there on my 14ft 9.9 boat without getting swamped!  Come to think of it, maybe I do feel a bit prestigous when that 1963 aluminum boat hits the the water and I fish with my high tech bobbers and minnows all day!

No I believe the bottom line was opening day of walleye results and you posted a bowl of trout filets hoping that it would pass as walleye in which it did not. Gee I wonder why?  And as far as taste or prestige who cares.

I might interject here and say I'd bet it was kind of a joke at least I got that much. As far as the taste I'd bet my boat, truck, guns, treestands, and three basset hounds that no one can tell the difference with the fillets on a bun with cheese, ketchup or tartar!

if you go out and catch perch, bluegill, crappie and walleye, i'm sure youll have no problem trading them for all the steelhead you want.

a taste test 2 years in a row as in a "fish lineup" where you lined up all these species of fish and people chose the trout? "George Costanza" did the same thing on "Seinfeld" but with candy bars and all of the candy bars were "Twix." are you sure all the fish werent trout?
