Cool fish and even cooler photo... Is that an old Plueger Medalist on that rod? Keepin' it real, eh Dan? Sweet... I used to wail on chubs and brookies in the Lisha Kill with one of those bad boys as a kid... That is a really dark Smallie, huh? Looks like he was down real deep all summer, or in a stained backwater somewhere... Estaz Bugger in his lip, perhaps? I could always tell where a snook was caught in the Everglades by photos or seeing one on the cleaning table. Dark fish came from the 'inside' and magrove backcountry where the rannin in the water would stain the fish... The birght and silver snook always came from the 'outside' on the Gulf of Mexico or in the Keys... Less tannin and thus, less staining on the fish... Never saw it on freshwater fish, but I am sure it would be the same... Plenty of tannin in hemlocks and lots of stained water up in the ADKs in places like the Indian River or elsewhere... Sweet photo, man!
