Anyone got any ideas for the second half of the season?  The birds are quiet and the leaves are out.  What do I gotta do to get one?

6 hrs. sitting quietly on an old log road.  Call once every 45 min.  works like magic by about 10-11 am.

Agreed with MM,  Now the birds have really got a daily routine down.  Sitting well travelled logging roads is a solid bet.  I am not that patient generally and would rather walk the ridgelines until I get one to gobble (either way works).  Generally, I use a turkey call as a locator also so when I make a call I try to be in a location where I can set up immediately.  With the leaves on, not only is your vision cut down, but so is the range at which you will hear birds.  That means, when you do hear one he is likely closer than you think.  It also means he could be in your lap within seconds so get ready.  I do agree that during late season I do not generally hear as many birds, but just like late mornings... when you hear one you have a real good shot at knocking him down.  One big mistake I see a lot of guys make is that they move around too much in the later season.  I guess they feel that since they can't see the bird due to the foliage, the bird shouldn't be able to see them.  That is a bad assumption.  I find birds in the heavy foliage to be even warier than earlier in the season  when the woods are open, as any movement they pick up is considered a threat and they will beat feet out in a hurry.

If you can find one gobblin in morning Set up and call when you hear the hens start to yelp Not before. If you hear no hens and birds are on ground Start to call Hit it hard and then wait at least 45 min and hit it again.Be patient He will come probably won't Gobble be alert.Have got 2 for my friends this way.

No calling and no motion. Just rustle some leaves every now and then has worked for me in the past.
