Hi everyone. I am new to steelhead fishing and plan on taking a trip up to the Erie tribs shortly. I need some help. I know these are dumb questions, but I'm a beginner and need to start somewhere. What length and action/power rod should I use? What pound test line should I use? What baits and lures work best?

Thanks!

Try getting a rod with a lifetime warranty. I think that Cortland has one with a no questions asked policy. If you break it in the door they fix it.

st croix has top notch rod repair services.
slammed one of mine in the car door coming home from erie last march, i had it back in about a week and a half.

you have to mail it out to their main outlet in wisconsin, they fix it themselves, you can't take it to a dealer of the rods.
if the break was the rods fault, it's free.  in my case, i had to pay 50 bucks.
