I'm in the market for a new fly reel.  I just purchased a 8wt Winston Ascent and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Redington RISE series reels?

Doesn't look like you can palm that reel, which might be a nice option.

Seems like a sturdy reel, but I think you can do better for $170.

I have an Orvis B-Kill mid arbor IV (and Cold has the III if I remember correctly) for Steelhead. Great deal and I like it a lot.

There was a similar post a few weeks ago in response to the user bingsbaits with a bunch of opinions on reels. If you can find it, it should have lots of relevant info for you.

In any case, I hope that whatever reel you end up with, you find that it suits you and your new rod perfectly!

the Orvis mid arbor is a nice reel for the dough.....I use an Abel Super 8 on my graphite rod.....as they say, it's gotta drag system that can stop a sub......For awhile there, you could save $200 to $250 buying them on Ebay instead of a dealer.....that's what I did.

If orvis is gonna put a package that provides a $200 reel for free, it might be with the Helios rod.....And that's an $850 rod....

I am a big fan of Lamson and have two of them.  A 2.0 and a 3.5, they have a solid drag and are great for steel and are nice for the price. Im trying to sell one of them with Rio Grand Nymph 8wt on it, if you are interested send me a PM. Im sure alot of people would agree the Lamson is a nice reel for the money.

I agree.  The Lamson's are fantastic reels and light as heck.  I also like the new Sage reels.  Their lower end models are a nice bang for the buck.
