Heard I bird, someone beat me to it.  It must have gobbled 50 to 75 times until 6:30 when it was shot.  Hunted till 11:00 never hearing another bird.

Shot a 10.5  22lbs today heard 3 gobbles at day light.  Shot my bird 8 05 am not much activity today as in gobbling. I think the storm front had them pretty much locked jawed.

Roosted 2 last night. When I set up on them this morning, they never made a sound. I decided to run and gun a little, and got one to gobble at about 6:30. Couldnt get too close to him, so I had to settle for 200yds away. Called him into about 100yds before some real hens got his attention.

I heard about 4 other guys within a few hundred yards of me this morning. It drives me nuts when other guys try to sneak in on the bird i'm calling.

Roosted 2 Fri night. Set up on bird number one that gobbled 37 times in the tree, flew down, then got killed by a guy about 50 yards from me....man I was steamed....I wasn't even carrying a gun, my wife's 19 year old cousin was the gunner, he's never killed a turkey. Talk about jump when his gun went off and to boot he was on private property and should not have been there, plus it was really early when this bird hit the ground, he got killed at 6:08 AM. Off to bird number 2 which was still gobbling. Moved in, set up, bird came about 200 yards in no time. Bird pops out into field and goes into strut for 5 minutes or so at about 70 yards and I know he could see the decoys. He then folds up and walks away??? That was wierd......
On to another bird......Get one to come up a ridge from over 200 yards away, he sticks his head up just long enough for us to see his head, then he leaves??? It was an odd day but all in all it was fun. Heard alot of gobbling and alot of shooting....

Gotta be some real Daniel Boones out there. They think they can sneak up on a bird in the woods. Happens to me every year.

Which is why I still wear orange and hang it VERY close. People are inconsiderate bungholes when it comes to turkeys and deer.

I had a hard time fishing yesterday with the gobbler just on the other side of the shoreline brush pile at the Marina Bay.  Is it legal to shoot a turkey while perch fishing?

Had 1 come to about 80 yards from behind me. Heard one shot at first light then had a hen fly into my decoys. My guess was that she was with the tom that got shot.

Turkey hunting does scare me at times. I've been taking my uncle along with me over the past year. He stopped turkey hunting years ago when his best friend was killed by some kid who "thought he was a turkey''. I managed to call a hen in for him in the fall, and he killed it. I'm glad to see he's hooked again.

As close as turkeys need to be to kill them, I just dont understand how people get shot in fall or spring season.

We went out this morning also, miserable conditions... made me think about gettin a double bull, but we set up on a gobbler we heard last night, heard him gobble one time about 6:45, still on the roost, we didnt have much time anyway and figured we should just sneak out and try him another morning.  Who knows how long he'd have stayed in the tree this morning, but then he'd probably have gone straight to the field, where we were set up.  If he would have been a little more fired up we would have stuck it out.

What a miserable, cold, wet morning. Saw 5 jakes together and did have a longbeard and hen come into same field as I was set up in but way to far away. Looking at the forecast I may take tomorrow morning off and hit it again Wednesday.

Great week for vacation.....rain, rain, rain.........

I was out workin this morning switching Boswell in Dravosburg right at daybreak an had a bigboy right above me scare the hell outta me with a loud gobble at daybreak right off of 837 an above an idling locomotive, guess they ain't scared of anything in the city/suburbs/whatever, must be easy pickins for them birds.

Had a ok morning. Heard quite a few gobble on the limb then they got quiet. At 8:00 I was set up in an area with alot of scratchings  and broke out the glass call, just as I was getting it out of my vest a bird gobbles down over the ridge from me. He gobbles again on his own. I yelp softly, cluck and purr, he gobbles. I go quiet for about 5 minutes then cluck and purr again. He gobbles even with me on the ridge and directly to my right less than 80 yards. At that point I was screwed, I had 2 large tree tops to my right. Welp, he came to 15-20 feet and stopped, I thought for a minute he may walk down to the decoys but he just didn't like something. I didn't try to make a move, he only had a 8-9 inch beard, I let him walk off to live for another hunter. Had to leave woods at 9:30 due to a sick daughter, back at it tomorrow.

I'm looking for an older, larger, bird plus I was not ready to end my season this early in the game.
I like to hunt!
