Just in the past year or so i picked up some new tackle and started getting into "power fishing" ... by that i mean bigger baits and some heavier gear.

After some reading and seeing results from some other NY fishermen i broke down and bought a huge swimbait. The stuff they have been using in Calf & Texas for years now that has been gaining popularity in the northeast.

I purchase a MS Slammer, 9" Jointed Swim/Wake bait. I got it mid-week and couldn't wait to get out and try it. I was determined to catch a fish on it.

So here was my 1st fish of the day ... and on the bait.

My buddy Lance did well with a buzzbait

Another nice one

And lunker of the day @ 4lb 8oz

It was an awesome site to watch a bass roll on that monster bait, and the ones that did were very committed. One was only 12" but he tried to inhale it LOL. I can get used to tossing that bait around, it was a lot of fun. Awesome action on it.

WTG Brian...some great fish. I've often wondered what those huge swimbaits from Cali would do around here. I see some of them at Dicks , Castaic and LuckyCraft I believe. They're like $30-$35 apiece...I'd be sick if I ever got snagged with one.
I got to get to know one of them farmers with a pond too.

That is one serious lure, Bri... Do you think a moster swimbait like that could get you to land a whopper like this guy that I got on the Indian River up in the ADKs this weekend? What a beast this smallie was:

Regardless- those are some more SWEET bass... I have seen those baits around here and there- but only really considered them as tarpon lures down in South Florida... It is amazing to think they are killers on Northeast Bass too... We sure do have some serious Hawgs around Albany, huh?

I can't beleive the fish that have come to hand for you guys this season! Awesome stuff...

... go back and find him in 5-6 years LOL.

It has been a good summer for a lot of the local guys.
