Hiya folks. Wondering if anyone could give me some tips for the Mohawk. Particularly the area between Lock E9 at Rotterdam Junct. and E8 west of Scotia. I've got a campsite at Arrowhead Marina and RV Park next week. I'm bringing the boat and could use a little help getting started. Not looking for anyone to divulge their honey holes but just some basic starter tips to get me going. I generally target Walleye exclusively but being new to this body of water some bass, pike, or any sort of mixed bag would surely be a blast as well. Also, I likely would be doing the night thing. Anywhere between 7PM and 7AM as my afternoons are booked with business. PM if you'd like. I've got all kinds of info to share on my home waters of Honeoye Lake and Irondequoit Bay and know a fair share of info on many of the other fisheries in Central/Western New York and the Finger Lakes.
Thanks folks

Max,

I fish that stretch of the Mohawk frequently.  For walleyes, your best bet is in the early morning or at night as they will be moving around , especially at the locks (stick baits work well)  Smallmouths are the dominant bass species between Locks 8 & 9 and beyond.  Lots of rocks and weed edges along this stretch.  As you head towards Lock 7, you will find large mouths as well as northerns and muskies ( in the Rexford area where they are stocked by DEC - at least they used to be.)  hope this helps.

Fish around the railroad bridge just west of arrowhead... and right by lock 9. If ya pass Arrowhead and go to the end of the road and see some idiot painting a building that would be me ...
