Here's a minnow pattern I use in tough conditions in fast/riffle water. Also  another , electric glo

I do the same minnow pattern instead of white buggers sometimes - just as easy tie IMO. try keeping the silver tinsel body but add brightest red yarn you can find just on the tail end. irrrritates them steelies.

Does the mylar tubing come in different colors and can you purchase the tubing other than at a fly shop

Standard streamer hook, lead tape trimmed to shape. Slide mylar over tape and secure it at bend(a couple of half hitches then remove thread) re-attach thread up front and pull mylar forward and secure, then tie in polar fiber craft fur(2 colors) then a few strands of herl

Nice flies! I tie something similiar to the electric glo. All I do is add an estaz tail. It works great for me on the Salmon river.
