What type of water would you expect the steelhead to be using RIGHT NOW (mid oct)?

Do you think they will be right on the salmon behinds', gobbling eggs?

Big Riffs, Heavy Water?

Current Seams?

What do you think?

Well i hope there are fish everywhere.

I am a total Newbie to the Salmon river style of fishing but a buddy of mine is going to show me the way on the SR this weekend. I am stoked already and have 2-1/2 days to go ... tic tic tic tic LOL

I am an avid fisherman for other species but have never caught a Steelhead, Salmon, or Trout over 1-2lbs
SO i will be very happy with just one avg fish. Of course i hope to hook up with many during our day trip.

So please be patient with me out there guys.

Wish me luck.

BB

I've been finding them behind the gravel bars in the deeper med-fast water- basically where ever the eggs are washing by them

BB, I'll wave to Lunkerville as I pass by friday morning and be thinking about you & red all weekend. Pulaski will blow you away from what you are used to , hopefully in a good was as to fish on..
Red will do good by you I'm sure ... Enjoy the trip, bring twice as many clothes as you think you will need and lets see some happy faces on return !!!

Good luck...

Found quite a few today between the heavy flow and the seam(medium water).Blue sacks worked best for me today.

walking pace seems on the edges and tailouts of fast water anywhere from 2 to 5 ft. deep.  don't let 2 ft. deep water trick you, especially with the water up now.  it can be very productive steelhead water. good luck

If you don't mind getting to the water real early and doing battle with the crowds, try the wire below school house, has a blast over the past weekend.

for steelies or salmon? I've smashed the salmon there many times, but only seem to get the steel in the faster water further upstream.
