Downloaded the new disc the other day, haven't listened to it yet though, so I can't pass judgement on this one. I can't say they "just get better and better" due to the fact that St. Anger is one of the most horrible albums ever. Although, based off of that, they can only really go one way and that's up...

It seems like every Metallica album is always met with the same outlook before it's actually released, "sounds like the Puppets days." Their best album since the early 90's is Garage Inc., and that was a covers album. They'll never put out anything like they did in the 80's, and that's probably a good thing. I just think they try and experiment too much with different tones and sounds that always seems to fall short of expectations.
