We would love someone to take that and make it nice. Not sure how much inventory comes with but the sales rep for KW is the owners daughter, Susan Venasco. She would have all the answers. I know there are 3 cooler tanks for minnows, 2 display cases. With a little lay out change, it could be semi spacious.

Thanks for the info. but his brother has a 40' x 26' garage & a finished barn on rt. 8, commercial in good location. Son has them loaded with fishin' tackle already plus his house, Grandmothers, camp & my place. Tell him to unload it but says he needs it all & keeps buying bulk. I have zero ambition for it other than loading tackle bags now & then for Byrds, Cats, Eyes & Panfish.

Was snowing Brady Township near M/C a few mins. ago so bite will be tougher for a few days.

Are your boys planning to open a shop with the Rt. 8 location?  That area is going to be prime for a new shop.

O'Donnell is awesome and I will support him until he calls it quits.  But who knows how much longer he is looking to stay open?  Appalachian Trails, imagine the same, if not sooner.  I think that I heard Roger's closed up last year?  That said, not sure if it is worth the hassle with guys buying everything at Wally World or online, just to stop in at 5AM on a Saturday morning for 2-3 dozen minnows...

Pork looks maybe a need for somebody in "marketing"???  Wouldn't that be a fun part time job, getting a heads up on all the new fishin stuff?

Speakin of fishin, I'm watching reruns of "Dirty Jobs" and Mike Rowe is "grunting up worms". Then there comes a commercial with guys fishin from boats..... and catchin fish.

Here in my (new to me) piece of Penn's Woods the snow is all gone from last nights arrival, temp is 41 F. and the trees are bending and waving letting me know... keep watchin re-runs of "Dirty Jobs.

This weekend looking to improve a bit, hope all y'all can get out to wet a line.

Be safe, stay well, tight lines,  Happy Easter.

BT -
That is honestly part of my "retirement plan" (dream)...  Get a part time gig at a beach town bait shop.  Or if my investments pan out, have my own bait shop that I only work a few hours per week and have staffed to do all of the hard work (not looking to be a reality currently).  I always enjoy going in those shops and talking fishing for 15-20 minutes while picking up whatever they tell me the local bite is on.  Would be fun being on the other end.  Not sure if I would want to be doing 70-80 hour weeks, waking up at 5AM to scoop 2-3 dozen minnows though...

Oh yeah, Happy Easter too!  Stay safe!

Pork... every journey bigins with the first step. 🤗 First priority, getting dedicated trustworthy knowlegable employee(s) therefore, I highly recommend rsquared as a manager. 🙉

My second recommendation, a 4' x 8' high gloss enameled sign (both sides) "NO POLITICS" everrrr.

My third recommendation, guarantee rsquared vacation in a time where he most enjoys visiting Mississippi. (for two weeks) Possibly as a business trip, buying fishing equipment and supplies. I think buying a surf rod and bag of "fishbites" at wholesale, might qualify.🙈

ummm, you'll have to excuse me, I have to hold off on additional thoughts regarding your retirement business dreams.... I need a nap.

Tim, Tim doesn't part with his fishin' stuff for the most part, Says he needs it all. He got 6 reels in the mail today & I asked him what's up with that? Said they are custom built with high end components & needs them. I purdy much give up!!!

His brother might sell produce once in awhile there since he has gardens on 3 different properties. Did this one on the rt. 8 place over last weekend.

What's up fellas.  Short winter.  I thought about thinking about getting out the last couple weeks, but I remembered my luck in the cold water last year.  Plus I know good old PA and her "snow in April" nonsense.  So I'm not shocked it is cold this week.  Planning to set up my flat bed trailer for easier hauling of the 1 man round kayak, hopefully in time for crappies.  Hope everyone avoided the COVID so far.  Or got it and lived I guess would be even better.  See you all out on the lake, from a proper distance.

Zelie... I went, I saw, I did, I didn't, I learned some things & I'm ready to go back.... stupid fish!!

Can't stay away from muup north. I gotta get back for some bytchin about fishin and enjoying the weather.

Missed a ton of time on the water last year cause I was doin stuff I said I was done doin.

This year though, gonna be different. I'm definitely gonna get on the water, just as soon as I get done doing things I didn't get done doing last year.

But really, just need get the oil changed in the 15 horse and maybe a new marine battery for the trolling motor, a little grease into the easy lubes and check the pressure in the tires. Which will likely go thumpity thump cause they have a flat spot, from sitting in the same position for nearly a year.

Hopefully, in the very near future, (tomorrow wouldn't be soon enough) this weather straightens out and this Covid crap fades away so I can get on the water, causing me to wonder why I ain't home doing something I should be doing, making me wishin I was fishin.

Don't worry, I'll figure this out, I think there's still some salty water in my ears.

Anyways good to hear from you and glad to read you're ready to go.

Hope to see ya on the water this year and with out further ado.... I need a nap.

First time fishing Lake Arthur yesterday. I fished for about an hour and a half from my kayak and managed to get three largemouths moving up in the shallows. Hopefully, I can get my boat in soon and fish some more water!

Big D.... I ain't for spotburning (unless it benefits me) but I'll break my silence and just say this.

There's a bunch of good guys on this board that know one thing or another about fishing Arthur and they all enjoy, helping a fella out, when they can.

Got on the water about 10AM today. Lake is very high and turbid. Water temp was 52 and then up to 56 in the shallows by late afternoon. Fished all over the lake. My buddy caught a 17" wiper (on a chicken liver!) and a small largemouth on a crank. I couldn't buy a bite and got skunked. Fished bait, cranks, sticks, worms etc etc etc and got nada nuthin' zero. Figured maybe everything was turned off because of the incoming high pressure system or could be that I'm just not a good fisherman (my wife's opinion).

About a half dozen boats fishing crappie in Muddy Creek. Nobody really seemed to be catching much. Same report from some guys at the landing when we were putting in--skunked. Hopefully May will be better.

Re: Lake Arthur 2020 2020/04/25 22:19:28 (permalink)
I fished Muddy Crick yesterday after fighting my boat for a few hours prior to the maiden launch of the year.  Which is a huge reason why the maiden voyage only happened in April.  Got a few hours of fishing in, but not much catching.  Did get 3 crappie and 2 perch.  Which was about 1/10 of the catching of my last trip out, but still something.  They are there and they will bite, if the the switch is on (at least seems to be the case with spring panfish for me).  I spent an hour trying to see if I could get some wipers moving, but no action.  Then settled into the panfish.  It just didn't go on for me.  2-3 hours seems to make a huge difference.  Last time out, barely a tap for the first hour, then switch went off.  Not much difference in presentation or anything.  Non-stop action for about 3 hours.  Then switch went off and could barely buy a bite after.  Yesterday, no switch.  But working hard and getting a few fish was still rewarding.  Considering the pain in the rear the boating portion was for me.

Good news is, after 2 pulls, my motor that was giving me heck all last year, fired right up.  Ran like it was brand new...  My bow trolling motor that salvaged last year is on strike now for overwork from last year!  It stopped on me late last year and I was hoping it might just come back to life...  But no such luck.  I tore it apart to see if any loose connections or whatever might be obvious.  I am pretty sure it is the control board.  The turning works, but propeller won't go, just gives a clicking sound at the board.  I bypassed the board and the motor itself runs.  Can't find an old control board online.  Anyone know where to get a 203-4005 board?  Attempting to fix a board is well beyond my caveman electronics ability.

Good to hear your motor fired and ran well Pork.

The trolling motor thingy sucks though. I have a 2003 Minn Kota Powerdrive that has issues similar to yours and I tried locating parts and/or a foot pedal. No need to tell ya how that turned out.

Used foot pedals were available on ebay at the time but I figured those too would succumb to failure.

I lucked out and discovered my problem was with the speed control and was able to convince the thing to once again work.

Not knowing what to expect this year as I need to mask up and head to Walmart for a new M29 battery, before setting afloat in the coming days.

If the motor don't wanna go no mo, not sure what I'll do.😩

Tried out my 15' canoe.  Even a slight breeze and it spins around like a top. Just me in the back turns the bow into a sail.  I'm going back to my boat and kayak.  Lost one bass, my buddy caught one, in five hours. Anyone want to buy a canoe?
