Good ole beeoch thread... Now we're talking....

I fish alone 98.37% of this time
Just the way I roll.....when I want, where I want and how I want

I've had very few problems over the years
Seen all sorts of knuckleheads and acts of duushbaggery ..
I don't let it bother me

I'm in my own little world and absolutely insist on enjoying life .

Now, if I happened to have the pleasure to be at the same spot as Rsquare and  see the acts of duushbaggary pulled on his 6 yr old,  I'd  "enjoy" ruining the duushbag's day
That would be FUN to me

The elitists that forget that those fisherman with their bobbers and heavy shot have just as much right to be there enjoying themselves and deserve just as much respect as everyone else.... This isn't sustenance fishing, it is sport. Sport is about having fun. If you catch 3 instead of 10, life goes on.

I would much rather see the novice floating the big bobber and a egg sack catch one than the elitists with the $3000 worth of gear and heads bigger than the volume of their Simms waders.

Didn't say they don't have a right to be there, just said that it's very poor technique to be fishing that way in low water, when the fish are already skittish. And I'm far from an elitist, in fact most people who have met me know I'm more than happy to help, and often even share my hot patterns.

Actually, I think it's more beneficial to fish without an indicator in those conditions, and either sight fish, or watch/ feel your line looking for movement, or for it to stop. That means you either have a fish or a snag, either way, wont know until you lift your rod.

Hope all the tears here, and on the lack of fish threads, raise the creek levels a bit...

Everything mentioned, is Circusheading.  If you are going to go, expect much of this nonsense to happen.  If you are the type that is bothered by this, then probably best to stay at home or get the map and hiking boots out, and plan to try and avoid as much crowd as possible.  Avoid any stream that is mentioned in a positive report, and don't be the knucklehead that mentions a stream in your report, unless you want to deal with this nonsense.

Thankfully, something has happened to the program, where millions of large fish aren't jumping into the landing nets of fishermen (or kicked onto the banks of streams).  5 years of horrible returns will have those willing to spend 5-6 hours, to possibly catch 1 nice fish, be the only ones left fishing.  Hopefully we are just witnessing the beginning of something great.  The downfall of Circusheading!!!

Been a long, long, long time lurker here and have to give my input on this one.  I couldn't agree more, I don't fish at the snaggin holes anymore but sometimes just pull in and watch.  I tend to bust out laughing when I see some Jag coming down the NUT house dressed in more expensive gear than my business suit!  I would be afraid to get any mud on some of these peoples get ups.     I also do not mind letting someone come and share a drift at 9:30am.   I used to be one of them in my younger years that would come hungover as all heck, step my way in, and then start slamming fish!  My main line when someone got ****ed about being there since 5am was "you would probably be in a better mood if you wouldn't have gotten up so early!!!!'

Man this is a great comment. If you have done a lot of walking you will realize erie has some down right good looking sights to see. All the water falls, gorges, and scenic areas. I often wonder what it would be like to be way out in the cut with very few people and be able to really enjoy the whole experience.

Thousands of people hunt in pa, i dont care how far i have to walk, im going to make sure im out far enough that i dont see anyone.

Unfortunately the miles of creeks and the amount of people that fish them is far unbalanced. If all the deer in pa were limited to one county for hunting it would be insanity. Why not treat it the same???

The amount of people that want to elk hunt, compared to the amount of elk holding territory is far unbalanced.  Why not set something similar up for steel heading?

It was fun back in the day (20-30 years ago), when you could walk (almost all open land), hit smaller holes that had no fishermen and 10-20 fish.  Then move to another hole with 5-10 fish.  The streams from a mile above the mouths, looked like your average trout stream, a month after opening day.  The big holes held a bunch of fishermen, but usually had open holes between.  Maybe shared a hole or two with guys passing by.  Even back then, the larger holes had the same etiquette issues.  Definitely had issues when I first started going in the 80s with my Dad, and fished the mouths of the streams and rarely ventured a mile up stream back then with him.  I remember guys cutting others lines if someone didn't land it instantly and fights in the parking lots...  It seemed like those line cutter/fighting types, made their way up the creeks by the later 90s & 00s.  Towards the mid 00s, I was fed up with it.  I went from 10-15 days in a fall, using multiple vacation days and as many weekends as the wife would allow, to 1-2 per year.  Now, I am just fine going once every 2-3 years, and disgusted seeing 20 guys packed in areas for hours, that used to have 1-2 guys that passed by and fished 20 minutes.  I'd be all for a steel head lottery.  Even if there are 1/4 the fish of the 90s, but the same amount of guys as back then, it would be great.

yes i agree with pork    there wasnt nearly the pressure  then  i started early 90s and it was great times    jus when you have big fish like erie tribs provide your gonna evenyually get the crowds   heck most of the guys crowding the streams now  were tired of 10in stockies from there area that they fish   then when you can get big fish they migrated to erie   especially pa tribs.......  now there hooked and  unless they drop the limit to one fish per day  they are gonna keep hammering them     .... i would like to see 1 fish limit because i think most meat hunters will stay back home and  not think its worth gas etc for 1 fish  just my thoughts

Lol... so if a guy comes in and invades your personal space, is loud, obnoxious, and a slob. He doesn't care about, pay attention or coincide with the people that were already fishing.
You choose to look down on him because he is not following a needed controlled chaos protocol of synchronized drifts, does that make you an elitest or him an idiot? I think its much more the 2nd.
Stew I think you know what point is tryin to be made. idc what your wearing or how you fish but when you start interfering with people's fishing on a consistent basis via one of the many gripes, then continue not accepting the fact that your not doing things right, you point blame at other people for being unwelcoming of you.
If you don't know what your doing you could spook fish and lock em up quickly then people in the hole go home and say erie sucks to fish.
If you truly have no clue what setup to use or what to do, then read up, observe, and prepare beforehand. You won't stick out like a sore thumb to these so called "elitists" whom really aren't that, they are just people who are better prepared and setup than most people.

Rude and obnoxious behavior is one thing. But, that was not the example pointed out. Fishing is fishing and everyone has their way of fishing and enjoying the sport. If the person with the bobber and heavy shot has the prime position in the hole, so be it. Fish around em or go somewhere else. The elitists just don't get how ignorant they are and most never will.

Just what is this elitist you speak of ???
Expensive gear ??? You get what you pay for. You want to use a snoopy rod go for it.  Why bash a man because he chooses to and can afford better equipment than you.
Expensive clothing ??? You want to use a garbage bag for a rain coat? Go for it.

You all sound like its the "so called" eletist that have put their time in. spent their money so they can use the best equipment for the job are the problem..  The clueless are the problem. Not what gear they are using... The tool box is full of the uninformed and the elite snobs seem to be few and far between.. Shout out to Charty....

Mabee you could bring up your arrow gun (hopefully not an Elitist new top of the line gun) so you can weed out these elitists....

Novice fisherman are not and never were the problem. It is the elitist who feel entitled to the perfect drift and presentation without it being disturbed by other fisherman who have every right to be there and fish how they wish, especially if they were first to the prime spot.

Hey I got the answer guys. PFBC should install large speakers (Boise) and play music (Surround sound) to coordinate fishing like you see in synchronized swimming.

A hook-up commands the spotlight for a solo.

OK..... I'll go away!!!
