''I'm a pretty decent lg mth Bass angler (fished daily for years when I quit  drinking in '92 ) ''

love this!

i've known a few who could put up numbers when others couldn't also.  tim is one of them.  as for me, once a caught one, i was done for the year. lol.  i only fished when i wasn't duck hunting or wading pymy or crippling myself playing some sport that i should have quit twenty years prior.

You like to bass fish?
we'll  hook this coming late spring/early summer .
I'll take you to some exclusive ponds I have permission to fish.
One of them is in Hiram ..appx 8 acres of pond loaded with nice gills, a few crappie and tons of  bass .

Much of it fishable from shore  ...but the real fun is with a float tube (what I used before I got my toon) or a yak  if you have one

I've landed many dozens of 4-5 pounders
Hundreds of legit 2-3 pounds
and countless numbers of 1 to 1.5'ers

the 7 pounder on my wall came from there (caught two 7#'ers back 2 back that day within 10 minutes of each other!!!)
I was  casting  just beyond the "moonscape" bluegill spawning  beds

The largest bass I ever landed came from that pond  too.
July forth ..no scale, but measured an honest full  25"...I'd guestimate a 9 pounder .
already had my wall hanger from years ago, so I sent her back to the coontail weeds she came from

don't know which tribs
But if not the "major" ones commonly known, please have the good sense not to mention them publicly
(I thin you already know that, though)

I'm too old and beat up these days (lazy)  to go to some of the low/no pressure spots with fish I used to haunt .
The mile   walk "down" ain't so bad...it's walk out and 1/4 mile UP coupled with the  last 150 yrds almost straight up, that kills my knees and nicotine stained lungz
Been 6-8 years since I was there...don't even  know if they still hold good numbers of fish anymore now eithr

the easy public access spots get lots of company  ...I ain't into that so much anymore ..not when there's not a bazzlion fish anymore anyway
Even in the boomtime "glory day"  years, there's LONG stretches of fishless water on Connie

I've really become quite lazy since the numbers decline .
My body can only take a few hours of fishing before shoulders, knees and back are on fire .
Years of my vida loco abuse, crashes/broken bones and physical labor work all my life  has taken it's toll...at 59 next month, I ain't young  no-mo

It just ain't "fun" no-mo to drive 1.5-2 hours to scare up a few fish .
Be different if I was local (or had work/other reasons to be up north)   ...fish for an hour or so and then dink off  ..like I do bass fishing local

Ohio has not been on fire this year on most creeks reports. Actually it's been very slow but you never know till you try. Conny has been the deadest I've seen in years, just no fish . Can't blame low water, bright side..... lots of room up and down.

Any clue why the area downstream from Follys Campground is now posted? It is a shame to see such a prestigious part of Elk no longer accessible. #FreeFollys

New owner bought land. She posted it for hunting leasing supposedly. Its still open to fish for family and friends and friends of friends.

After what I've seen over the years on the tribs, I'd put up posted signs the minute that land became mine.

Your not the only one brother,  but... it sure as hell would get fished!!! I  know more than a few less fortunate people that wish they were capable of fishing in the spots that slobs take for granted that results in the area getting posted.
It seems like this is the worst year for lack of respect, unsportsman, slobby b.s. that i seen in a long time. But, oh well. Just today a whole stretch of crick was open and some weasel splits in between my friend  and i with a whopping 3-4 feet between us. Making it shoulder to shoulder unneccessarily .Thats just blatantly being an ****.

I've been fishing Erie tribs around Erie for many years.  (catch release guy, crimp the barbs, usual flies, streamers and jigs) I did the glory days.  And now the decline in the numbers of steelhead to the point I just can't make up my mind to go the expense to go Walnut and Elk etc.  The last 2-3 years has been almost fishless for me.   I would go if I thought I might hook-up 4-5 times in a day.  question.  If I look for steel hard enough,  do you think I might get those 4-5 hook-ups on steelhead?   What I'm getting at is,  are there some steel around.  Are some fresh ones coming in?  I'm just looking for an once of motivation.  sincerely

There are feesh.  But...here's what happens.  The returns aren't what they used to be.  So some fresh fish come in, they get beat on, wise up, and get tighter lipped.  Usedta be so many fish that sheer numbers of dumb ones outweighed the "smarter" ones.  Now, not as many fish...yeah u get it.  There are still some duds who have high catch days (when u hit it with perfect conditions+ freshies, have the right stuff for that day, etc). Thats why even though its obvious numbers are dahhn, you still have a few trout gawds who insist you are a poor excuse for a man if you don't catch double digits every time.   But I would venture to say the duuds who are having great catching days, if they were HONEST, would admit that those days are fewer and farther in between.
So bottom line, if you can walk, know how to read water and have reasonable ability, you should be able to get some hookups.  I was up on monday (opening day for rifle) and it was great in the morning with freshies around.  But by afternoon it shut dahhn.  Now I had success and saw others having success all moorning so I KNEW the fish were there.  Duuds who was late to da party, they INSISTED "ders no feesh!"  Fishing the same hole i was crushin em out of earlier and they can't buy a bite.  Ive been on the other end of that as well...got there at the wrong time and slapped wit da skunk.  No guarantees but if u got sum skills u should be ok.
