Western PA Fishing Report

Lake Erie and tributaries (Erie County): Ice on Presque Isle Bay was deteriorating rapidly — anglers were advised to use caution. Perch and bluegills were taken in Misery Bay, where ice was barely 4 inches. Ice covered most of the tributaries, but open water was found by steelhead anglers willing to look for it. Two steelhead in excess of 22 inches were taken on live minnows at the Walnut Creek Access Area.
Pymatuning Reservoir (Crawford County): Shore anglers at Tuttle Point reported walleye, crappies and yellow perch.
French Creek (Crawford County): Fish and Boat reported shore ice and flows with open water from Wilson Chutes to Cochranton.
Shenango Reservoir (Mercer County): Good catches of panfish were reported.
Lake Arthur (Butler County): Low angler pressure but legal largemouths and big bluegill were caught near Muddy Creek.
Bradys Run Lake (Beaver County): Ice was unstable and dangerous. Some parts of the lake were open enough for limited bank fishing.
Deer Lakes (Allegheny County): The Middle and Lower lakes are open enough for limited shore fishing, but an expected cold front might cause an ice-over.
Allegheny River (Allegheny County): Despite a snowstorm followed by a warm spell, no serious flooding was reported. Nevertheless, Fish and Boat advised anglers to use caution. Scrap steel removal from the Hulton Bridge demolition near Harmar continued to cause a potential hazard. Boaters were advised to keep their distance.
