Woe is me!  I go north they catch em south, I go south and they catch em in the middle.

But Alas, I shall continue my plight, for one day I will become successful in my endeavors to capture the ever elusive, Pymie Walleye.

However that being said;  you can bet your last bippy, when I do start catching them critters yinz is gonna hear-and-hear-and hear about it!

I gotta tell yinz though, this Monday and Tuesday past, I had a "ton of fun" fishing with my neighbor and a Army buddy of his.  Both these guys served our country for more than twenty years and I had the honor of having them on board the Fish Hawk.

We launched out of Snodgrass on Monday dragging harnesses and jumping jigs loaded with 'crawlers and medium sized fatheads thru deep and shallow water. Didn't get skunked but we couldn't put anything in the live well, either.  Yesterday we spent our time on the water trolling off of Manning to Linesville Causeway, then back through the stumps, where we tried our hand at catching some Crappie.  Once again, sub-legal 'eyes, a few bass, crappie, and perch but, very few fish in the live well.

While my past two days may sound to be unsuccessful, one must remember, there is so much more to be enjoyed when one goes fishing.  My best catch, will be the memories of fishing with two great guys as I recall, each time I launch from Manning and Snodgrass, the stories, jokes, and hardy ha haa's coming from within the gunnels of the Fish hawk.

To my friend Denny, his Army buddy and now my new found friend, thank-you for your service to our country and a truly fun time fishing the great, Pymatuning.

Was on the lake yesterday with some luck. Perch are active and crappie have moved to 8 to 9 ft of water. Caught a 14.5" crapie. My largest to date. North end of lake. Thanks to Robinsons Bait store for the pointers.

The lake was super clear this weekend. Could see bottom in nearly 10 feet of water. Discovered that the object we have been snagging on when fishing off the dock was part of a tree. :)

wife got me a cabin in ohio for fathers day.  we went up last nite relaxed w some old friends and was totally entertained by the dozens of very young amish kids.  got up at 4 on lake at 530.  went down below stockers island trying to find a place that the amish had caught a bunch of fish the previous morn.  wasted 2 hours.  finally went north where I know the lake better.  for an hour and a half w a good wind we caught 2 eyes 4 perch  one super nice crappie and a bunch of cats.  I was thinking this a gonna be a gang buster day.  then a storm ran us off the lake.  that killed 2 hours and then the wind quit and it died.  not a bite for 1.5 hours so we headed home.  great time on my favorite lake w my son and my beautiful wife.  would not trade it for anything!

I agree with roygpa about pymy being super clear. Fished Saturday evening and could see everything in the water. Casted for Muskie and I could see my bucktails coming through the water a mile away very unlike pymy never experienced that kind of clarity there.
Had 2 lazy follows from small muskies.

I've seen Pymy very clear only a few times like that over the years. Same on Shenango very rare when you can see down to 12 feet or better . Shenango's been fishing very slow on game fish. Just a thought while we are talking clarity, how far have Zebra Mussels spread from Erie nowadays ? I believe Conneaut Creek comes South a long way but it does flow North and they have to be in there.

My money is on the weeds and if they are still green with clear water at 72+ degrees then the PSUFBC hasn't polluted the lakes with herbicides/chemicals........ YET.

Haven't heard any questions regarding fish die offs either.  Remember those, from spawning stress I believe we were told?

Just a personal observation over the years, mind ya.

Thank goodness for SOS.

I noticed at Wilhelm the weeds we usually fish in the electric motor only section are pretty much gone. Not nearly as many as the past few years.
The big fish die offs usually happened in july and august I believe.

Well I was also out on Conneaut this past weekend and a good bit of the weedbeds are down. You can bet it was treated recently with chemicals. The weeds also are very brown for this time of year at Conneaut should be nice and green.

The weeds haven't really came up at conneaut this year. I was up almost every weekend the past 2 months. For some reason all the lakes seem to be behind with the weed growth.

I agree. They are behind. The weed beds I fish at Pymy haven't even reached the surface as of today. Some of my better gill spots aren't producing like in previous years.

Weeds are growing too fast at Buhl Lake ! Had my grandson up last week fishing and I was getting flashbacks of yesteryears when it was all choked up !
Too bad Shenango doesn't get some good weed patches like when it was first dammed up.
Weeds provide some good habitat for future fishing and good bait fish cover.

Thanks Mopar and a great day I did have. Not only did I go fishing, I did some catching too.......I'm so happy!!

Unfortunately, I shall not require your filleting service as I have, but a few dozen, average sized Crappie that will assist me, with the initiation of my new fish dissecting table.

Normally I do not keep more than a dozen Crappie at a time. However, having had no luck so far this season I felt it to be in my best interest to ignore the preset limit and act like a glutton.

I should like to note, at this time, that I did return at least half of the total fish caught including a stupid Catfish that I chased around hoping it would be a magnificent Walleye, taken on 4 lb test mono fishing line...... stupid Catfish.

Thanks Marco, I had a ball today catching them critters.  So much I didn't try for any Walleye at all but Walleye Bill did and he boated a 27" beauty.  I'm waiting to hear it's okay to post his picture and I still don't know which part of the picture is better.  The fish itself or the smile on Bill's face, what a great day for a great guy.

I'm happy to hear you are proceeding with getting your back taken care of and I couldn't think of a better subject to occupy your mind.

Just heard from Bill, here's something to think about to help pass some time.  I know a picture is worth a thousand words but Bill may have a few words of his own he may wish to add.
