Winning weight was 12 pounds 4 ounces for 3 fish. I think big fish was a bit over 5 pounds. Many teams quit early in the morning. We had one team weigh in just after 9:00 AM and went home. Even with the bad weather, quite a few teams stuck it out and brought in fish.

The weather was brutal. High winds all morning and dropping temps. In the afternoon the wind dropped a bit, but it was still blowing pretty hard.

My job was handing out the Pymatuning Lake magazine. :) After about 6 hours of handing out the magazine and freezing to death I wandered back to my truck and went home.

Next year I will dress in my ice fishing gear and mickey boots :) I can always shed clothing.

Captain, it is called "Pymatuning Lake Visitors Guide."  I am sure that you've seen it. I just forgot the name and had to look it up.

I was hoping to have a rumor confirmed or rebutted. I was told that the Tuttle Point launch was going to be open for public use when the Linesville launch is closed beginning June 1. I live quite a ways from Pymie so this may be false OR Tuttle may have been open to the public for quite some time.

A fishing I did went; a home empty handed I did go.  Stupid fish.

But all was not a loss, I hooked up (no pun intended) with a friend who must be one of the most dedicated anglers I have met.  I mean this guy lives in the deep south (of PA.) and drives, sometimes several times a week, just to fish Pymatuning.  Imagine getting out of bed early enough to drive over two hours so ya can be at Pymie by 6:30 AM, fishing all day and driving home the same night.  Well, that  happens to be "registered" (a/k/a, Rob) and I had the pleasure of visiting with him and his son Sam, as they enjoyed fishing for Walleye.  To top the day, I enjoyed seeing smiles and grins from dad and son as pictures were snapped of Sam holding the Walleye he caught.

Congratulations on your catch Sam and Rob thanks for inviting, and allowing, me to be part of the fun. I shall not forget, the smile on your face, when Sam's fish entered your net.  Priceless!!

Fish well my friend, I look forward to seeing you again.

John,
It was great to hook up with you again. Always lots of laughs and good times.
That was a memorable moment when Sam caught that fish while our boats were bouncing around and you and I were BSing.
Sam's on summer break from school and all his buddies wanted him to hang out with them yesterday. He came fishing instead.
That fish was the first and only keeper (walleye) of a long day. But in the end, the fish hooked Sam. He's ready to go again.
By the way, Marco said to tell you hello. He said he's getting too old to fish on windy days.

I'm grounded for today, I have to be home to sign for some new play toys arriving later this afternoon.  But Wait.....!  It's a good thing, new cell phones are coming to Mr. El Cheapos house and those new phones, well at least mine, will have and be capable of handling the "Mobile Navionics App" much better then my three year old phone.  Yeah I know that's old and outdated for a cell phone but even though, my old one has to be connected to a "defibrillator" (a/k/a/, battery charger)  24/7, it still works.... most of the time.

Ice Nut, if you're out there, I looked for ya yesterday afternoon buddy, but are you aware of how many "Lunds" there are with a big horse and a kicker on the back?  I was sure the third one I chased, this time into the launch area by the sunken island on the Ohio side, would be you.    I figured I'd best stop searching after that one, I was sure the fish police would soon be out looking for me.

Hope you had a good day catching and I will certainly be keeping an "eye" (no pun intended) out for ya the next time I and the Hawk visit your neighborhood.

Lol I never saw it or felt it. Friday I had a small sore spot and the swelling started sunday. Tuesday it was the size of a tennis ball and I went to urgent care and they drained it. Now I have a baseball sized deep purple bruise. No pain but the medication is beating me down.

Sounds like you really hate those things ! A shotgun blast ! LMAO...

I read somewhere that spider bites are extremely rare in Pennsylvania and that most infections are the result of something else. Who knows ? I don't like those critters either ! Seen one on a night fishing trip climb out of those big boulders along our dam outflow area....WOW ! I think it was one of those huge Wolf Spiders .....don't care to see another that big !

Marco,
Just to point out it wasn't me but my kid that scored.
John was right next to us in his boat and witnessed the catch.
Are you saying you don't believe his report?
Hope to see you next week?

Up again Friday May 20. The clouds parted, the sun through and the bite was much better. Picked up 3 eyes, which is good for us, and a few nice crap. The crap were full of spawn which seemed a little odd for this time of year...but they were full. Hopefully the improving weather will have a corresponding effect on the action. All in 6 to 8 feet of water with action better as wind in 7-12 mph range. Surface temps 57 when we began and up to 63 in the heat of the day.

Moi.......... regret lead core?

To the contraire my dear ami,  I truly find the use of such fishing line to be formidable!  In so much as, I now have 2 new ensembles of fishing gear dedicated solely to the modern science of catching walleye and, other fish too.

Thanks to your willingness to teach, and share your practices of such angling, I have now blown a two-year fishing budget entirely on trolling paraphernalia.

While it may be too late to change things there is no need for you to feel remorse, for not, all is at a total loss. I'm certain Fish/USA now has reason, to thank you very much.

Tight lines and great times to you and yours during your stay on the Pymie buddy.
