Gotta admit I know nothing about UNCLE JOHNS except how to view their webcam.
But as a small business owner who also raised his prices in January I gotta say things are getting more expensive for everyone  all around in order to stay in business and profit enough to survive prices go up!
IMO America is on shaky ground when it comes to the $$!
    I 'll stop there.
I have said it before but just to be clear my business has nothing to do with the "fishing industry around here".
Just my 2 cents take it or leave it.........WCW

Sweet.. so now he can make even more after he double books all his cabins.

Wonder if he jacked the price on firewood as well..that would be a breaking point for me.. I mean 5 pieces of wood for like $25 is a steal.

HD  You complain about his prices. Dont stay there use one of the local motels close to erie and have crackheads and ****s begging for money. You'll probably be one of the many out of towners who will park on his grounds a not pay the 5.00 fee. Do us all a favor and stay home. John is a honest businessman

I have stayed there numerous times and while it isn't the the cheapest, the convenience of his location is awesome. I can guarantee that none of your insurance, taxes, gas. Etc. bills have stayed the same over the last several years, so obviously a business need to adjust its pricing occasionally. That being said the group of fisherman that make the trip with me twice a year decided that they prefer having a comfortable bed, a clean shower, fridge that works, and an overall better quality sleeping arrangement to the convenience of just one of the streams we fish. He needs to overhaul the cabins and bathrooms to get our business back, no complaints about cost.

$600 for a weekend in one of those cabins?  Really?

There's a Quality Inn in Fairview about 1 minute from Upper Elk Creek, it costs no more than $100 a night and less on weekdays.   I don't know what more you could want for a weekend fishing trip.  It's not a 4 star hotel by any means, but well worth the price and the non-smoking rooms are fairly clean for an older hotel in that price range.   The smoking rooms not so much.  Just stay away from the free breakfast buffet here.  Go to the Girard Dinor if you must have breakfast before fishing.

he didn't pay 600 unless he brought along 20 of his friends. He is raising his rates from 60 for double occupancy to 75.  $37.50 a night per person per night..... Honestly the prices are more than reasonable.

Gonna be hard to rent cabins with no water above the bridge being fishable...
His neighbor will hurt his bottom line way more than his pricing and double booking...

I never stayed at UJC's , but the pics, amenities and proximity to the stream looked great R/T pricing. As far as correct pricing, that's just the thing. One can spin math anyway one wants to suit their needs. I was under the belief from many past members that he has reasonable rates and will believe that until one can prove without a doubt otherwise, but not with mere words. Once again, I have no proof and as such my belief is rendered invalid as it's only a conception, perhaps a misconception.
Bings last post was interesting as far as having an effect on pricing/value.
