Anyone hitting the 3 rivers???

Anyone fishing the fall bite? I did Emsworth last week and didn't do as well as I thought I would have. But, that's fishing. Couple of bass, sauger. I haven't really been out much last 2 seasons because of work. Going to flip rivers today and try motoring around the pigeon creek area on the Mon.

I was gonna try for eyes earlier this week, but decided to target trout instead. Let us know how you do.

My son and I hit the Ohio yesterday. We caught and released (approximately) 12 walleye, 4 sauger, 6 smallmouth and 1 sheephead. A good sign was one half of the walleyes were not legal, close but no cigar. Never saw another boat or anyone on shore.

Didn't do very well last 2 days. The Mon was like glass until the wind picked up. Water was really green. Slow rolled curly tails most of the day. Caught a couple of the usual suspects - but nothing grand. Move around a lot. Will give it another go Thursday. Try to focus more on the dam areas. Didn't see too many shad either like I have in the past this time of the year. Looks like I am a little rusty. Not many people on the water.

Anybody getting into any numbers of eyes? From shore? Not looking yo keep anything, just wondering if the fall/winter pattern is on.

Now that I got my archery season wrapped up, I'm planning on giving it a shot sometime this week after work.  I will report back if I make it out.

Ed, A couple of friends of mine just came back from the Tionesta region, they said the fish were on fire. They got a mixed bag, including Muski & Northerns. They said they got real nice smallies every where they went. btw how did the bow season go?  sam

I've been doing fantastic lately. Over the last month pulled in walleye in the 3-6lb pound range and pretty good quantity of smaller ones. Went on Friday and got one 4lb walley and 12 total but most of the others were about 2lbs. Also did good on striper and smallies. Wish I could have gone today, but a wind advisory and risk of severe weather sort of puts a damper on that opportunity.

Hit the Allegheny yesterday after work for a few hours and it was pretty good.  I was fishing an undisclosed location in Pool 2.  I just had my waders and was dunking some bait, but I did manage to catch about 7 or 8 walleyes (Between 12-17") before getting too cold...Had a bunch of less fortunate fisherman (Without Waders) huddling around me trying to get their lines over top of mine; that was fun. (Not, but no point in getting worked up)

One of the other guys fishing below me did manage to catch a very nice, solid  7 /8 pound walleye.  I was almost chuckling to myself out loud when I saw what he was throwing (1 & 1/2" Rapala Trout Lure); but hey it obviously worked for him.

He was pretty jazzed about catching this fish and hooted and hollered to his buddy about this being the biggest fish that he'd ever caught!  So they strung it up on a rope and continued fishing...

As I was leaving I offered him up some congratulations on a nice catch and wanted to take a better look at the fish.  He was eager to show it off too me, so we ambled over to where he had his stringer staked into the ground; and much too his dismay-his prized fish had pulled the stringer loose and escaped back into the river... He was pretty bummed out, but oh well.

(I personally don't like to keep the big female fish out of the rivers, but I won't condone or look down on anyone who chooses to keep a fish within their legal creel limit.  It's a shame too because that fish will probably end up dead now anyways...)

Very cool.  Great job landing him on the light tackle.  I'm sure that got your nerves pumping a bit more too.

I didn't see him until about 3/4 of the way through the fight. I just saw that tail and adipose come up and was quite surprised I still had it on. Hooked right in the lip.

Thanks its my biggest to date by about a foot. The funny thing is , I've only caught 2 in this area and the weather was almost identical both days. I even thought to myself walking down to the shoreline. "I don't like my chances for eyes today, maybe I'll get a musky."

HaHa, that's a good attitude to have, glad it worked out for you. I passed up trying the Freeport Area of the Allegheny on Saturday and opted for Moraine instead, ended up with a handful of good perch, but I'm thinkin' the river would have been a better choice.
