Wow!!! 3 major bursts with a lot of steady rain in between... My guess is 3+ inches of rain... Most likely the res should be good for a few months...

Just a sprinkle here and now it's bone dry, they keep saying it's coming but on the radar it's all north of us.
We need that 3 inches here!

The ground is so parched that whatever rain that falls is quickly absorbed.  Some is better than none.

I would say we are good for a while. Just finished up the last of my plants. Lost my pumpkins , replaced then with spaghetti squash and butternut. So I planted a few pumpkin seeds between the corn plants here and there. That's what granddad used to do

I put my tomato plants in during the week so this rain will be a big help.  Now I have to put a .22 in a woodchuck that has raided the garden.  Yesterday, after cutting the lawn, I noticed a few of my plants had been chewed upon.  Sure enough when I went back to put up some fencing around the TP's I saw the little bugger scurrying back to his hole under the spruce trees.  Its time to set up the ground blind and send the interloper to woodchuck heaven.  The skin will come in handy for fly tying some chuck caddis patterns.

r3g3- Heavy T-storms rolled through about 4 PM when I was shopping in Danbury/Brookfield.  The deluge lasted a half hour or more.  We need more of the same.

We are getting dumped on. With tomorrows forecast we've gotta be really getting up there on 3 day total by late tomorrow... Ground went from bone dry with cracks in it to absolutely saturated... They may have to open up the gates up in red field with this one

Yes absolutely drenched us for most of the night and it is still going strong. I hope it does not rot my seeds I put in the ground.

Fingers crossed for your seeds clint. I too put sunflowers and carrots in just before the rain. The only savior may be how warm the ground is. Let's hope

yup, we went from no rain for weeks to total saturation ... ugh, it might put a crimp in my plans to fish the Ausable this weekend as it's at flood stage right now.. Fingers crossed that once things clear up on weds, she drops quickly..

Hope all works out for ya tunes!!! North branch of salmon blowing out..may reach 4000 cfs today... Remember too, a lot more water runs in to that res than just the north branch... I'm interested to see what happens as friends of mine were just out on the upper res on Saturday and it was not high... But by no means was it low according to them

By the looks of the pinevilke gauge it seems as if Brookfield slipped in an unnotifiex emergency release... Waterline says 500... Pinevilke dropping from near 2500 to 1800 now... The rise and drop are not natural by the looks of the lines on the graph.... Guess someone woke up and covered their arse real quick while everyone was sleeping

Well the weather played nice on our weekend awesome able trip although it dip down to 35 deg sat night..
While the river was ragging all last week at over 9,000 , it dropped to around 750 ish by sat which I would have liked just a tad higher.. The black flies were atrocious and out for blood by mid day.. I still got cauliflower ears, they just chewed the dickens outta behind my ears, ugh...
The fishing was OK, not crazy on fire like I woulda thought but we put a lot of ground under our feet and picked away at them, all hardware or meat..  Pressure to my surprise was very, very light.. Hardly seen another angler where ever we fished except one spot a 3 man pontoon with a cool as heck guide came floating on by.. We swear his client was Dave of the Tuna.com from the show wicked tuna other then that it was just the bugs, us and trouties, oh yea, we did catch 3 PHAT suckers, besides the ones who were fishing..lol
Certainly had a great time and it provided a relaxing weekend .. Most likely wont return until the fall because I'm gearing up for the Great Lake adventure..
I didn't take a single picture all weekend but have many memories stored in my head from the trip that will last a lifetime. Great fun, Great friends and enough trout to keep us busy :)
Here are a few pic's from a friend .. Sorry but it's a blood sport and they taste ohhh so good :)
     How's that for pressure :)

HT, I guess we'll have to go over the proper way to handle fish....I don't think those fish will survive.
Since this is a weather thread I have to look out as they have issued a TORNADO watch for my area.

Nice, RJ! Some good ones. Glad it was empty for you guys. Very cool to have a river like that virtually to yourself. Uglyfish and I had a good night on the Battenkill on a lonely stretch, last Fri. . Beautiful water, friends, and trout. If it gets better, I don't know how.
