Doppler is showing some dark squalls over tug... we could end up with a abnormally high water spring at the rate things are going... what a storm... youve got the coastal noreaster heading up the coast and then the inland front thats spanning from virginia up to eastern lake erie and across lake ontario and in to the adirondacks

Here in SE Penna. we got next to nothing.a little flurry in the AM and that was it,now looking at the radar it looks like most of the storm is going to miss us.I really was looking forward to a white landscape, filled the snowblower for a false alarm.

Jack,  If it makes you feel better you can come to my house tomorrow and take care of my 150' driveway.  I promise not to complain if you miss a spot or two.  A glancing blow for my area 12-18" but its the wind that really concerns me.

We've got about a foot of really wet heavy snow.
Terrible driving with ice under the snow with ruts everywhere trying to drag you into the ditch.
All good cause I hope the melt hits to give me a new push of chrome up the cricks.
My only day to fish is Tues right now and I have been missing most of the good water days.
Went bobber fishing this week  but wasn't really prepared.
Friend took a 17 inch dinner bow and lost a bigger one.
Bluegill cubby jig and waxies.

Well so far it has been less than spectacular here about 4 or so inches on the ground.   It is that mealy, slippery snow so the roads a crap. The say the worst of it will come tonight, but as of right now it has stopped.   Did 2 swipes of the drive and will wait till  morning to do the final clean up.   I have to go to Pulaski tomorrow and will probably hit Sandy pond  on Sunday for some perch.

Well it snowed all day while on the ice and only amounted to about 4 at dark when we walked off to our lodge.
Woke up / went to bed around 1am and snow had stopped, no wind either.
Time to rise and shine to hit the lake today .
Total snow amounts = less then 6" here in the schroon lake area..

Gotta love the big storm of the century

Not gloating but I'm glad it missed us.  I have about a foot on the ground.
However it didn't miss central Connecticut.  A friend sent me pics on facebook of her backyard & picnic table.  Snow to the top of the table at 4:30 AM and still coming down.  She lives in Durham which is near Meriden (retired guy).

Well the sun is shining and the birds are singing  (well maybe no birds singing)   and the snow has stopped.  At the most we got a foot maybe a little less , but not more.   Drive is all cleared.   A trip up to Pulaski for some dog food and hopefully the parts for my  loader joystick came in as I need to push the banks back soon.

Well the weather people did n't nail it for my area.First it was 3 -6",then 6-12",then back to 3-6",we ended up with 2-3".Just enough to make me have to get the blower cranking and blow off my 300'+ drive,a lot of it is a hill!Blew it off by 9:30 and now it is all black and dry where the sun hits it.So there is no football to watch guess I'll tie some flies.

Well- my neighbor and his kid jumped out a window, so I did too. Yea -yea- to all  those jump in a lake old sayings lol- we did it.
After 3 PM -still not a plow truck since yesterday - hear that with the drifting they are having a tough time just keeping the main roads clear.
Stopped snowing and its sunny out but the big wind is still blowing snow into drifts.

The sleds are buzzing my tip ups on about 5" snow. Weather guys blew it for north and I'm cool with less.
Seems you'll be diggin in RG , good to have power though.

P.S.
Wind kicked up by 8am and made things tough for while.
Fishing has been tough all day !!

Ya got that right Tuna- Lost power 3 times in the past year- twice with wires ripped off the house too.' Total of about a dozen days without.
Got enough firewood in the house for a week this time -just in case.
Just heard we might not be plowed out till Tuesday. Ambulance sending Med folks out to calls by snowmobile.
Darned weather guys- wish they called for a warm front- its their fault. Must be working for Al Gore.

We ended up with 13.5 at the Rachacha airport, but I'm closer to the Lake and I measured 17".  A plowboy that I knew said undrifted area in North Greece had 22".  Lots of water in the creeks this week with low night time temps to slow the rate.  Question for next weekend is ditch or ice!

Luck, its looking like another freeze up this weekend... id say wednesday and thursday afternoon are looking like the best days to target... especially late day... unfortunately they dropped the salmon down to 285... ive got the same eye as you though... natural flowing tribs may become prime by thursday or so with this brief warm up /wet event...

Most everything is locked up good up north.   When you go over the bridge the NS looks like a small pond.

Re:Weather thread 2013/02/12 07:17:41 (permalink)
Dime, My  early take on the tribs may be off a little due to the quick return to the deepfreeze.  The Rochester Airport showed a storm total of 1.48" of precipitation, which at the 10 to 1 ratio would add up to about 15" of snow, but we only got .05" of rain yesterday, and even with the 50° Temps, Irondequoit Creek only went up to a little over 200 cfs and then started dropping.  Most of the water went right back to the sky.  WIth a high of 24° in the forecast for Saturday, hard water is looking like the better option.  I agree that Wednesday and Thursday might be good, but I have this impediment to angling called a job, so I only get to go on the bad days.  I was hoping to get out this year, but every time they print more money in Washington, what I have becomes worth less, and it looks like I'll need to keep working just to cover the bills, much less be able to gas the truck and pay for a room in fishtown!  IHOP is advertising a toasted cheese sandwich for ONLY 5 BUCKS!

Getting worried,, The end is near..
Daylight is growing stronger.. Ugh.. Ice is , well holding but.. The end is near..
Going to hold out walking on water as long as possible before booting the waders up..

Prez day tradition will be broken for the SR this year..
Heck they even broke tradition on the Daytona 500.. So I don't feel so bad..
Maybe next week at Steamers in Oswego ..

Get em' before I decide too.. :)

Had a few nice days in a row here and no snow until maybe Saturday.   Like HT I will try to get out on the ice this weekend.   For a few years in a row we have had green grass by the middle or March so the end may be in sight.  I will hit the river a few times this spring.   I especially like fishing in March last year.
