Snowfall stopped. Temperature dropping too. 4 " total. 50's tomorrow = mud.
Splitter story:
My son burned wood 10 years ago, I didn't but had the access to free wood. I'd pick the best straight red oak to drop and hand split. . Did about 15 full cord a year . Finally I couldn't cast a fly rod due to elbow and wrist pain. Bought my first and only spey rod just to be able to steelhead fish. Caught enough. Made him buy a log splitter. Now he doesn't burn wood and I don't spey fish.
Good times coming and no better time to get away from the crowds

Heavy rain last night. Stopped about 2hrs ago and brought the walkers out.
I been sloshing through the yard with ATV, wheelbarrow and building more raised beds.
Got no choice, the weather waits for no one.
Just a little sun be nice for a change.

Batten down folks. Got a bunch rain overnight and today saturating the ground even more with ditches and low grounds ponding.
The creek to the mighty is muddy.
The winds are getting strong.
I'd expect some compromised trees and limbs will fall.

Re:Weather thread 2020/04/13 13:54:11 (permalink)
Sky's clearing to our west here in NW PA. About 1:15 pm winds became rather gusty.

We too have a "high wind warning" posted on the national weather forecast sight.

HIGH WIND WARNING

WHAT, West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* WHERE, In Pennsylvania, Crawford County. In Ohio, Lake,
Geauga, Cuyahoga, Ashtabula Inland and Ashtabula Lakeshore
Counties.

However, our local forecast says to expect 10-12 MPH then diminishing during the night.

Who knows, maybe it's like their "rain" forecast. When they say "60 %" of chance for rain, they mean "60%" of the area will see rain.

Which "60%"..... is your problem.

Welll- was supposed to be an all day till night event no matter what it was--
By 145 we had rain and some wind-- not 45 or 70.
Now the rain is pretty much stopped and the wind as well.

Radar shows the heavy stuff already gone past and some spotty rain ahead for bout another  hour.
Still some 15 mph or so winds around,

More ahead ??? perhaps but-------

Last decent band on radar here now- windy and raining again but this seems to be bout it.
NOT 70 mph and not several inches- maybe two.

Schizamm- quite a diff between the local weather state radar and the national big picture radar-
Might not be outa the woods yet.
Decent winds and rain  now - as indicated on the 'bigger picture' radar.

Always thought the smaller local input wood be more accurate- so much for 'always thought'.

We got little winds but LOTS rain.
Stopped on way home to pail bail the creek boat out. She was sitting very low in the water. Took a header getting off and did a little beached whale swimming back to shore.
Everything is supposed to chill out here overnight.
The creek is ripping and the mighty will be very muddy probably until Thursday.

Just started woodstove to dry my work boots out.

Well they were all correct abut it ending around 6 PM--it did.
Heavy wind at the tail of the storm around 3 .
Nothing to bring down a tree like the 70 MPH predictions but strong.

Our grounds are so saturated, since late summer. Thankfully, no leaves to make our trees top heavy yet.
Hopefully the sun starts drying the grounds out soon . Not outta the woods here by any means

The winter that never was but just won't quit. Its like a virus thing.
Snow, wind and rain here. High maybe 39.
Tomorrow looks like a crappy windy day also. Please, let mud season be over and hopefully it dosen't take until 2021.
Muck boots time to gather another load of firewood for house, pigs to feed, and other chores before darkness and I once again poke my head up through the hole hoping to duck before the mallet falls again.

Be well, stay safe and keep warm.

The days of low 40s,wind, dampness and cloudiness all too common since November around here IMHO.
Very little actual snow though- good.
Different kinda fall and winter.

I don't know folks, we had heavy rains all day yesterday and another covering of snow this morning. Since, our day today has been a light steady rainy gloomy day.
Getting to my truck in the driveway now is becoming muck boots let alone walking anywhere out the back door...
Streams are handling it ok but river is a mighty muddy again.
I, we really need some sunshine in our lives right now !!
Btw, striper fishing sucks so far

Late Spring aside, i've never seen so many people fishing. License sales are at an all time high in Vt., with a sixty percent increase. Lots of Vt. plates in NY, though it's semi- illegal to cross in the other direction. Yeah, mud.  Tis the season, but still hard to deal with.  More googans than I've ever seen out and about. The scoff law of the year award will undoubtedly go to the new striper slot limit.  Hope the mud sends a few of the crowd home with their  (not stripers) tails dragging.

Grass was getting to the "gotta do it" stage, so I splurge on a new mower, and of course it rains. And rains. I've had a bad itch to catch some wild brookies so I called a friend in Vt. who has the skinny on them. Still six inches on the ground and axle burying mud where it aint. I've been snowed on fishing wild ponds on Memorial Day, so I guess I was being awful optimistic. This weekend looks good for  hacking grass, maybe get the canoe out and fish flooded backwaters for largemouth and pike. Lilac buds are swelling outside my kitchen window, this weekend it will  seem as if you are watching  them open in slow motion.

Thanks Gerry. Any day above ground is better than below.
I've really been stressed this week with work, home projects and sucks weather.
No matter, I'm heading to a deserted island to camp for the next 3days.
The river is a complete mess and the fishing will be terrible but I just don't care, I need time away to reflect.

River upstream is running high, but clear. Might settle into a good time. Kinda sucks I wasted the money on gear for fishing  " deserted islands", but I can pass it on to a friend's autistic son.  Works out.
Mysotis carpets ,forget-me-nots,  exploded out yesterday,  a huge bald eagle flew directly overhead while I was wading, and the smallie fishing continued to be out-frickin'-standing. Screw the cancer, the suns out.

3 inches of snow yesterday and today I could mow the grass. Wind is howling putting off a trip to sylvan beach for walleye off the wall. Maybe next week
