This steelhead fishing is a lot like dog training except you have to be just a little smarter than the fish. I hope this helps. KISS keep it simple stupid.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I see there's a red star for "measured height/ discharge" on the gauge now. What exactly does that mean?

With all of the ice and debris coming down the creek, the gauge was disrupted for a couple of days. The red star indicates the reset.  I am thinking it was a manual reset and calibration? maybe?

It's not really a reset, it's more like routine maintenance and calibration (if necessary).  The red star means exactly what it says; it is a measured discharge.  USGS staff periodically field measure discharges at all locations to verify accuracy of the gauges.

Our gauges on eastern lake Ontario tribs have been acting up from ice as well. Things should start flowing soon/now though. Beagler this is a very nice post.

East end creeks - Crystal clear this morning. Finished off at Elk - Water was a little higher than normal, flow was little stronger than I like but had great color.

I don't really look for a certain number. I look at the trends. You can change the period of time you are seeing on the graph from a day or two, to a month or two. Check out the hi's and lo's, compare this info to the weather and seasons. I prefer to fish after the water level has gone way up bringing in a good run, then came back down to a good level, and cleared to a good clarity ( maybe 2-3 foot visibility for me, suit yourself ). after looking at the long term to determine hi's and lo's, go to a short term graph and compare to the weather and try to make a good guess at when your favorite conditions will occur.   Hope this helps some one out.  screamin' drags to all, Sam

No, but duct tape does muffle the sound a bit.
