Gauge Help

THESE PICTURES ARE FROM  2010
This is not happening right now.

So what do all of the numbers mean?

This is September 3rd 2010

Gauge Height:3.28

Cubic Feet per second:5.8

Turbidity: .1

And this is September 29 2010  at 1:15PM

The gauge height was: 4.30 feet

The Cubic Feet per Second: 154

Water Turbidity: 27

This is what that looks like:

At the Stop Sign Hole

At the Water Gauge.

At Manchester Hole

There are no magic numbers. Just at some point you have to decide to fish or not. I have seen guys do well in chocolate milk water with a higher cfs than I would be comfortable with.  And I have done well in water conditions like the first picture.

Thanks for throwing this up again beagler!  I've referenced it several times when trying to help others.  I know what I like, but it's helpful to show others that aren't real familiar with the gauges.

Just another example of greedy locals keeping the fish for their own

Don't you know that people coming in from out of the county bring in $2B a month?

Seriously, until the leaves are off the trees do not expect rain to do a lot to sustain creek levels.

There are two large flat rocks in the stream.  Fish upstream and down.

Thanks SJ. Over the years this has been one of the questions I hear asked a lot. There are a lot of guys who are much better steelheaders than I, so I try to let them answer other harder questions. Since I live pretty close to Walnut this kind of my contribution and I try to keep it near the top at this time of year.
And now there is a tree in the creek.
