Fair Warning In WCO Report

In the WCO report on the main page, they offer "fair warning" that the new traffic patterns will be strictly enforced.

I'm offering fair warning, that they are serious about that.

i am confused as to why anyone doesnt follow the laws, didnt they have to pass a test about those things when they got their lisence? if a sign says do not enter im pretty sure its illegal to go that way and you could get a pretty hefty fine for not following the laws of the state. imo anyone caught not obeying road signs whether it be at the walnut marina parking lot or on route 5 or any other road should have a lisence susspended and have to retake a driving test.

License suspended for driving 10mph over the posted limit? For a rolling stop? Get real.

That said, I'm glad they'll be enforcing. There's too much traffic in there, especially early fall like this when boat traffic is still high, for people to be driving careless. It only takes a second and now you've got a fender bender that will, at very least, sour your mood for the rest of the trip.

The new traffic patterns are well marked and easy to follow.  Nobody should be getting ticketed if they can just pay a little attention.

    Kreamy,

In this case, folks are accustomed to one traffic pattern, and not necessarily expecting, or looking for the signs indicating the new one. We are crezatures of habit. H@ll, I KNEW about the change, and still followed the old pattern out habit. If I had been caught, I would have deserved a citation, though I really wasn't "flaunting", or even ignorant of the law.

I have though witnessed several people recieve citations. So it stays fresh in my mind now.

    Yep, I've seen the same.

The new traffic pattern started last year, so even though a lot of us have been "trained" on one pattern for over 30 years. We should have had time to adjust.

with statements like "Erie has not had significant rainfall since the remains of the dying east coast hurricanes. "

one could question if the WCO could even find the parking lot to start issuing citations

sorry maybe i worded that wrong, what i meant to say was for the jerks that dont give a dam and go through anyways, its one thing if you dont know and see it at the last second and slam on the brakes or slowly proceed through making sure someone is not coming but for the ones that know its there and just say screw it im not going around.

Pretty bad when the WCO's are more concerned about the traffic than the "fishing" that goes on there!

My son got a warning for driving in the lot. He was going the wrong way but said the lot was almost empty. Guy was just doin his job. Next time though, the boy will make certain he drives where he should. I will to ,even though i don't fish there, I like to stop from time to time to watch the show. I will obey the new patterns also; I admit I never have in the past..WF

I hope they keep the parking lot plowed in the winter so we can follow the rules.

Last friday a WCO parked their vehicle in a space not designated for parking. I guess a shorter walk was a higher priority than the safety of anglers that day. If your going to write fines for it, you probably should be obeying it yourself
