One Fly Games

'One Fly' Game Rules

Those who are going to participate in the games I suggest that you use a bright color fly so it is easier to see. Cut the bend off the hook so it doesn’t catch on the grass.
Weighted or unweighted flies are accepted as well as buggers, streamers, eggs, nymphs etc.

Accuracy Casting; You will be set up about 10 yards from a target and have three tries to land your fly on the target. If you succeed you will go into the next round. (you are allowed to false cast as many times as you want but once your fly hits the ground or target it will be considered a turn)
2nd round: We’ll move the target back and you’ll have two tries to land your fly onto the target to advance to the third round.
3rd round and succeeding rounds; We’ll move the target back and you’ll have only 1 try to land your fly onto the target.
Last lone soul to land their fly on the target, at the furthest distance, will be the winner.

Speed Casting; there will be 5 targets at different distances in a semi-circle in front of the caster. Starting at one end you are to get your fly on the first target before proceeding to the next target and so forth. When you get your fly on the fifth target you will continue, going in the opposite direction, and see how many targets you can place your fly on within a total of one minute. If you cast beyond your target you are allowed to slide your fly on that target for a point.
Points are scored as followed.
1 point for sliding your fly on or across the target.
3 points for landing your fly directly on the target.
The timer will start when your fly hits the ground or target on your first cast.
Winner is the one with most points after 1 minute

We might have a knot tying contest or other games we are still considering.

Wouldn't even be fair for me to enter that one. I teach a class on this every weekend.

I am looking forward to the games this year. I've gotten in a little practice.

I don't always snag fish, but when I do...
    I choose Little Cleos

I'm the best looking smartest snagging poacher alive...

I will also give it a go again this year.

DT... is there going to be separate contests for sober and drunk contestants? Might need more room for the drunk contestants. Just a thought.

Thinking about having a longest cast competition if anyone is interested? contact Dt if you want. I have trophys finishing for the accuracy contest. Not a whole lot of fun running a router table in 91 degree heat/sweat. I looked like a snowman.

maybe for a drunkard contest we can wrap a few beers or liquor in fishnet stockings and you guys can snag'em.

after you guys 'poker' at Crowley's you can 'liquor' up at Foley's!!

How about a Lining contest ? With trout beads ! haha !
Consider the can of worms opened ! Just kidding !

I just wish I had more time to fish right now, I'd love to do the one fly and other Erie things a lot of you participate in. These last 5-6 years my kids have been taking all my time, which is cool. I love being a dad, its just cuts into my fishing time. Haha ! But both my girls love to fish and can't wait till they are older and can safely wade a stream with me. But until then its 1 or 2 trips to Erie a year and lots of soccer practices, gymnastics, swimming lessons etc.... But they are only young once and I will enjoy it, I can fish more in my golden years.
