You should check with the PA Fish Commission, I'm pretty sure the Captain would have to be a licensed guide and USCG Licensed captain to accept money for the use of there boat. My guess is this could cost some boat owners money for citations if there not licensed!

No question its not worth $200.00 but I guess its worth them asking! Charters are $450 to $780 on that part of the lake.

Dude... screw dat!  Its a... ugh!  Its a BASS tournament!  Who in their right mind that owns a boat would want to take a weekend off of trolling for eyes right now to screw around with GREEN CARP!!!  If it were a walleye tournament it still would not be worth it.  I guess if you are going to partake in this you are surely not doing it for the $$$.

As defined in Act 159 of 2004, the following entities will be impacted:
"Charter boat” - A boat operated as a commercial enterprise that carries passengers for hire for the purpose of fishing on the waters of this Commonwealth.

    • "Fishing guide" - A person who operates a commercial enterprise whereby he guides or leads other persons for the purpose of fishing on the waters of this Commonwealth.
A "commercial enterprise" is defined as an operation where a person provides fishing guide or charter boat services in exchange for any consideration, including money, goods or services.

I am sure alot of Bass club guy's will sign up to take these College bassmen out. They don't want your Walleye boat. They will have to have a live well for sure. I believe the Bass Big shots already checked with the Fish commission. I would say "just say'n" but some guy's don't like it.

My Wife said, if I go fish'n one more time, she'll leave me! God, I'm going to miss her!

The volunteers do not at as guides. They simply provide the boat for the college anglers to fish out of. The anglers decide where to go and everything else related to the the fishing. The cash is for the volunteers expenses for the day (like fuel and oil).
The volunteers are not operating a "commercial enterprise".

Any money that is not splitting expenses is illegal. According to the laws this is illegal.

Its the same reason the PA bass federation can't mandate the rider give gas money to the boater.

You guys need to chill. I would be there but the call of the striper tournament at Raystown this weekend is keeping me busy. The officials should know WTF is going on. Watch the Big Ten Network every once in a while and you will see that these guys are fishing on a small budget and having a blast. Makes me want to go back to school and join the fishing team. Hope they all have fun and rip some lip!!

I assume they are the guy's I saw coming thru the Channel from the Bay this morning. I guess practice for tomorrow! At first light it looked like a parade going out. The first boat I saw go out was Tim Small (Bomber Charters) then the Bass fleet. Alot stopped in the waters from Lampe to East Ave. Launch. One was about 15ft. off the East ave. breakwall. I quess all of these guy's were the ones who have their own boat! I wouldn't think they would pay for practice and tournament. I think these College guy's doing this bass thing is a Great thing! I think the Bass boy's should consider launching out of East ave. More parking. I know they could go where they want buy when they have a tournament out of Presque Isle Marina launch there is no where near enough parking for a big tournament and the regular weekend fishermen. Of course the PFC could probably dictate since they give out the permits. Just say'n! I guess I will be stoned by the Bass boy's

What you saw today was day 2 of the FLW AFS nothern. 73 boats fished yesterday and today. Top 10 get to fish tomorrow. There were some huge limits turned in today. 22-3 (4 fish) on the pro side.....22-11 on the co-angler side. Lunker was 6-14/pro and 7-6/co.
