a classic pattern

I'm working on something for the one fly and need some help. When we think of a classic pattern, What is the first pattern that comes to your mind. Mine was the royal coachman. What I'm thinking about doing is tying a pattern on a pin so it can be put on a hat ,vest etc. I'm looking for something that has alot of color, So it will be seen or noticed by others. Thanks

ps. Also if everyone could be honest. Is this something people would be interested in or would I be wasting my time and money.

Try one of the classic steelhead hairwings or a bucktail.

...of course you could always do glo-bug cufflinks...

As you know , many of the salmon flies have alot of color and would work well . Not a salmon fly , but I love the Royal Coachman ! You have as many choices for your project as there are fishermen . " Build it and they will come " ! Personally , I hope you pursue your intended project .

There is a streamer based on the Royal Coachman that has LOTS of color and is a soft hackle.  But I don't know the name.

A wooly bugger is about as classic as it gets for great lakes sthd. Some of the old spey flies are very attractive. A pattern I really like is Alistair Gowan's cascade, very attractive fly. prefer it tied as a streamer rather than a shrimp.

I agree with Plum Bob, a nice wooly bugger, however if you are looking for something alittle fancier maybe something like this, very simple tie, maybe alittle **** (not theres anything wrong with that). A little peacock sword, floss, peacock herl for thorax, fox for wing grizzly Hen for collar, tied on a hook with pin attached, what ever, lol

Nice rat Flyguy. The various rat patterns, black bear butt flies, cossebooms, would do well on erie sthd, tied small and fished deep.
