Casting Up North

I told a white lie to work and took off Wed evening to Canada. Stopped in NY to pick up my buddy Bob. He has shown me his lake so I thought it would only be right to show him mine. Besides he is a great guy who I enjoy spending time with.

We arrived to wind from the east. Not my favorite to fish. But we made the best of it. First trip out I lost a small one on a Hellhound and also had a follow. Bob had one throw his homemade jerkbait on an impressive sky high jump and also 1 follow that lure. Pretty good couple hours I thought. After that they shut down. Didnt have any hits on day 2 but got some nice fish. Casting a double 10 I picked up the Lake Erie sized smallie. Measured in at 20 3/4 if I remember correctly.

Later that afternoon I went out with my father and my boy. As always panfishing was good. But the smallie action mixed in was great. We would hit a pod and pick afew up. We had a blast. Little swinger got the big one that trip out. This 18" on a 1 3/4" tube gave him quite a tug on his little ultra light.

Sat was a good day. Wind changed and musky started moving again. Dad raised a good sized fish on his double 10 but thats all he brought to the game. His job was to get Bob and I on fish. Dad did get us on fish but they were all small ones. Bob had a small follow and a small release. I had an average follow and 2 small released fish. None of the fish were big enough to photo. Went back home for a quick bite and Bob and I went out to the same area. Bob started us out with a largemouth.

I this mid 30 a bit later.

Went in shortly after the fish to another incredible meal. After dinner I took out Bob and mom. Mom picked a spot that I didnt want to fish. But I took her there anyways. I figured one quick pass and we could get out of there. Well that didnt happen. She picked up this small 30.

On the same drift I got an eater walleye, 2 small bass, and had a solid lower to mid 40" follow. With all that action moms spot earned another pass. Second pass no action but I am happy I listened to mom.

Sun morning we went out for a bit before we headed home. Dad got another good follow. I got another good follow. Bob stuck this guy.

A low 40 who fought like he11. The guy who never fished the lake before pops the big fish of the trip. Nice job Bob! My short little trip was a success. The meals were super. Smoked turkey, broccolini and smokies for lunches. Bacon wrapped steaks, baby back ribs with mesquite pork tenderloin, spun chickens with killer green beans made up our dinners. Mom also baked for us as well. Fishing had its up and downs but thats not what was important.

Thanks for coming Bob hope you enjoyed yourself. Love to have you back soon. Here are some pics I didnt work in. Our place up north, some baits, and a loon.

Terrific trip Barry. Beautiful water, great hospitality. Gourmet dinners, never ate so good. Can't thank you and your mom and dad enough for showing me such a great time. Only sad part is now i'm home and have to eat my wifes cooking. Hope you can make it to Chaut. sometime late sept. We'll go casting for a couple days. Gotta close this off, going trolling for 4 or 5 hrs, gotta teach my new Ziggies how to swim.

Sorry guy but she is no longer yours. I told her all about your new love affair with Ms Clair. She is very hurt and will never give you another 50+ again. Sounds to me like you are in the doghouse. You better make it up to her somehow.

Quit giving away my secret spots!!!!!! You will get into my doghouse as well. You may have to make it up to me as well.
