to all of you...THE great task for 07/08

hello there fishUSA.com member, friends, fisher(wo)men, locals, out-of-towners,

I am greeting all of you and would like to wish everyone a happy start of the
upcoming steelhead fishing season !!!

I have been to steelhead alley a few times already, it`s such a great stream fishery,
thanks to many people.
I will be up sometime in november I guess to fish for some lake-run rainbows, can`t wait !!

So here`s what everyone has been waiting for:

The task for the 2007/2008 fishing season shall be:

" G O    B A R B L E S S !"

go barbless !!! show your buddies you can handle a 10lbs. steelhead with the barb
pinched down...

with so many steelehad in the tribs, I say:
"yeah ! go for it !!"

and trust me, this will be adding a few more microns of adrenaline to your body...

happy fishing,

landlocked

I could see that being a worthy cause if...

More then 1 out of every 50 guys in erie practiced C&R, or there was high natural reproduction.

I do it in erie for one reason only, its a lot easier to pull the hook back out of your hand.

Your worried about a hook when the next guy who catches it will boink it, kick it back in, feed it to his cat or burry it in the garden.

I don't like the taste of catfish.
So I think everyone fishing for them should go barbless and practice C&R

    Sounds dumb  doesn't it!!!

marty has a point, and I dont really see the barbs harming the fish, i see the 5 different hooks in their dorsal fin, tail and stomach causing the harm. I understand if we were fishing for native brook trout, but half the steelhead we catch this year will be caught 50 more times. most of the flies Ive tied are barbless.
