Rocky River

I'm going to be in the area for a few days around 15OCT, and plan to try steelhead fishing. I want to pick up a noodle rod and a minimum amout of tackle. I'm familar with the river,but never fished it.Will there be fish south of the boat launch at this time of year? Also, could anyone suggest a higher percentage simple presentation/bait/lure. I'm more interested in depending on dumb luck than getting too involved on my first attempt. I'd be happy just to get a hook up. Any help will be appreciated.
