eastside versus westside creeks

just wanted to see which you guys prefer. i personally like the east side creeks, just because i live over here. i dont mind the nut or elk, just because i know there is a ton of fish there...but also a ton of fishermen. if im looking to chill out i like the hit up glinodo...nice little area with a ton of fish in the waterfall...

its funny how everyone gets bent out of shape about 'their' spot. there are only a few select 'secret' spots that not too many know about...its just everyone has their favorite. just go out and fish.

You should be, if anglers continue to abuse this piece of water (littering/parking in front of the mailboxs...ect) it could be posted.  It has been overun with people over the past two seasons.

i go there quite regularly and it has never really been over crowded. nor have i seen people littering, or else i would have said something. the only thing i have seen people do is the parking in front of the mailboxes/on the bridge.

Good luck trying to get a line in that spot, which can support all of three fisherman, timing their drifts, idiot.

It dosent take that much to have a good spot overrun with fishermen.  I had a couple "secret spots" on upper walnut creek years ago that I fished with a couple of my highschool buddies.  for about 3 years, it was just the 4 of us for at least a 30 minute walk up or down stream...   then the next 2 years it started getting more and more crowded. and I finally quit fishing there when I got sick of always getting my line tangled with other fishermen who had no respect for others in the area.  I cought many great fish there, but eventually, it was time to move on in search of less populated areas to fish.

Yeh, Skip. No trash problem there because you, I and several others pick it up. I wish I had a buck for every can I picked up at the parking area.  This bozo doesn't realize how close this area has come to being posted. I've had to tell guys not to park on the grass past the entrance, or in front of the gate. The falls above Rt. 5 is now posted, thanks to the slobs, and I hope the rest doesn't get posted.  I'd rather hookup one there than 30 at Walnut. I didn't fish there much last season, because I
won't go down if there are more than 3 cars there. One day I counted 14!
Where they were all fishing is beyond me. Maybe standing on each other?
Maybe if we can get those vicious deer to run some of them over, the pressure would lighten up.

Everyone stay away from the east side tribs so Pete can have them all to him self.  He is the only guy who does anything to clean up tribs on the eastside in Erie.  Not trying to be a hard arse but come on Pete why complain about something you have no control over.  Erie's steelhead fishing is getting way overcrowded and it is not gonna change until they stop putting in fish.

I will applaude you though for cleaning up the tribs.  If everyone just took out all the trash then we wouldnt have so many postings.

Oh and I prefer Elk Creek the most mainly becuase that is where my camp is.  And I also like to combat fish every once in a while.  Nice to laugh all day.

Hey, don't forget those two side pockets in your jeans.  I've seen more than a few yinzers attempt to fit right in them.

Okay, that's two yinzer blasts in two days.  I'll stop.

I'll see you guys at the stop sign hole Saturday morning.  Bright and early.  I can't wait to fish the new improvements.  Should be a banner day.

Did I say I wanted them all to myself? Skip and others can back me up.
Hell, I've gone down without a rod, and just sat on a rock, watching,
and talking to a few guys fishing. The point I was trying to make is that
maybe someone hadn't heard about this spot, and there is no reason
to advertise it, since there are so few spots to fish on it. The little
stream was ravaged by the high water in the fall of 2004, leaving very
few spots to fish. I just figure, the less advertisement, the less one day
slobs, who park on the grass, **** in front of the house, park in front
of the mailboxes, throw their beer cans in the parking area, etc.  If  I
want a spot to myself, I know where to go, and it's not this creek.
Forgive me for not wanting this spot posted. My last comment on the subject.

    Fever,

It is NOT legal to fish the eastside, between 10pm-5am. The only tribs open to fishing during those hours, are Elk and Walnut, and only north of rt.5.

Yes, it does Fever. I just don't want folks to get the wrong impression. You can fish them at night, but not all night. I also would suspect that the folks at Glinodo, Four mile, and a few other places would prefer/appreciate folks not being there after dark. There's nothing wrong with night fishing, I just hope people consider the location, and the affect it may have on future access.

You are so correct.  Having those bright lanterns and such could cause a bit of alarm on folks at that time of night.  But as a wco mentioned to me one night, a little discretion goes a long way.  All I take is a headlamp with me and no one really knows i am even there.  Always make sure i am out on time.
