doubt it, just got back and let me tell you, it's still summer there. never saw any sign of steelhead day or night. did'nt see anyone fishing either. I fished elk up to the rt5 bridge and caught creek chubs and a sheephead, thats it.
went to trout run and 5 kids came down and started swimming right in front of me. I explained that I was fishing and maybe they could go down the bwach aways. the oldest kid looks at me and says "this is my backyard, I;ll swim wherever I want, go back to Pittsburgh". I was shocked. anyways, there were no fish there.

Yes, you can catch steelhead this early in Elk.  If you tried hard enough I'm sure you could catch one any month of the year...

There were a few around this week (very, very few), and with night time temps in the 50s next week, there will probably be a few more around.  We need another blast of rain, but its not looking like its gonna happen by labor day. I'd say wait another week or two if you NEED to catch one to have a successful trip.  If you're just going for something to do, then by all means go at it.  Try fishing the southern most end of "the wall" at walnut in the very early morning hours.

yeah in your dreams. you didnt catch nothing.
I drive around everyday and night on the westside. havent even seen anyone trying to fish yet. theres no steelies yet period. guys claiming to catch them at night is bull also. its funny brown trout, you never post all summer then about this time you start claiming to have caught fish. you must have been on the eastside in your dream because you sure werent on the westside. you must get some sick enjoyment lying on the internet. get a life.

bottom line, if anyone is catching fish right now they sure wouldnt post about it. you must not like to fish unless you have plenty of men to look at. thats the only reason I could think of for you posting. just go to your local ****club and "fish."

LOL jiveturkey. I never get into bs like this on the net, BUT, I just got my compute up and running again, and can now post, that's why I haven't been on in a while. People on here know what kind of poster I have been on this board. I don't start trouble or bs, but like fishrmn has said on many posts, poeple just don't believe what goes on up there, and I am always amazed at the clueless folks such as you.

READ my post, I didn't say where I caught the fish, it WAS NOT in a westside stream. It wasn't in a stream at all - get my drift. I watched 2 other jacks get caught when I caught my fish also, so belive it or not, there is a FEW around. What I didn't say was that I was in Erie for 4 nights and only caught a fish on 1 of them, so by no means are there many, BUT they can be caught.

Jive with you claiming to drive around and not see fish, doesnt really mean there isnt fish. Try fishing for them after all it also isnt call catching. My cousin started the day after the rains finished he sent me 3 pic messages on my phone while I was at work trying to make me jealous of 1 real nice one and 2 jacks. MOUTHS are where some are as well as the stragglers left through out all the streams.

If your in pain again I highly doubt being on the computer would help weaken the pain.

Is that a white perch sitting in the snow that you got ice fishing?

You need to store the picture in a site like photobucket then use the http// address.
Resize pictures to around 600x something before loading into your storage site

Put the link into the Add image icon-

No screwing around, theres always a FEW fish in the tribs by Labor Day.  Look back through fishing reports, there have been years when the lake temp has been 76 degrees + and there was still something around.  Believe it or not, water temperature really doesn't play a big role, although it does help.

I am glad to hear that some steelies are coming.  I did some scouting on Elk the other evening from the powerlines to Rt 5 and did not find any steelies, only one sucker and some chubs.  The water was low and clear.  It was a nice walk.

    Gentlemen,
Now I would believe, in fact I do believe, Bughawk.  Outside of Poor Richards he always seems to give the most accurate reports.  There may be some fish, and some holdovers, but if they aren't in the powerline hole at Elk then they really are spread out, or just figments of imaginations.

A friend caught 12 last Thursday.  Who was that fella that says every year, water levels have nothing to do with fish migration,  uh huh.  There are always fish, every year, at the end of august.  A bright sun in crystal clear water will put them back to the lake.  They don't come in far, they don't sulk, and only hold in a few places.
