This Sunday 08/26/07

Anyone else thinking about heading out on the lake this upcoming Sunday? Seeing the big temperature swing from Friday to Sunday, I'm not sure how much the fishing will be affected by Sunday. Haven't seen too much in the way of recent fishing reports posted.

It's been about 6 or 7 weeks since I was up there. Between selling a house, moving, kids tournament baseball, and now midget football, I haven't had much time for fishing this year.

How far can you punt, pass, and kick the midgets?  Er, I mean little people.

Sunday just might be good. Its a gamble looking at the weather. But you never know. If wind is a problem on big water, there is always the bay and inland lakes. The weather change can bring steel closer or push them deeper. Good luck and let us know what you catch.

I decided to take my 8 and 11 yr old Sons, and my buddy and his 10 yr old Son out for perch. First time I went out solely for perch in about 6 or 7 yrs. Followed a report posted on this site and went out due North of the point. Fished 60 ft of water. Had a great day of fishing. Weather turned out to be beautiful. Caught all our limits. Kids had a ball. I got alot of filleting to do though.

Congrats!  I stopped making predictions last year when I was WAY OFF with a stream prediction.

As I stood on the dock watching a friend frantically try to fire up his 25h.p., I kept looking over my shoulder past the Walnut building at the water thinking that those waves were settling down nicely.  Lots of reports of good numbers coming in, as we sat motionless at the dock.  Not in the cards for us yesterday.

TT,  What boat did you have? I probably saw you when we came in.  I was in the 18ft. blue Skeeter Walleye boat with my wife and kids.  You are right on all accounts, it was rough and there were a lot of fish being caught by all who were out there.

The blue 16 footer that throws meat out the back, hunkered down at the small pier on the north side.  Sorry for the vague info, but I'm not sure if I can divulge that information.  The captain makes everyone who boards sign pledges of secrecy.  Since I'm not sure if the pledge covers anything beyond techniques and locations, I've got to keep every thing vague.

So, you did well, then?  When's the fish fry?  I might not be able to keep the secrets well hidden if tempted by a perch sandwich.

Fish Fry was yesterday afternoon.  I rolled the fillets in a Macedamia Nut pancake batter and fried in Peanut oil.  There is nothing finer than yellow perch fillets.  We did well with two nice limits of perch.  I was glad we finished when we did because my wife was turning green in a hurry.
