mile creeks in teh summer

how far up do bass make it? and any decent size?

    Not very far I would think. All the mile streams have an obstruction a fairly short way upstream. Most don't stop the Steelhead, but Smallies would be far less likely to advance beyond them.

    what do you most people use small cranks, jigs, tubes? is deeper water the better?

    your like 3 months late. as far as lures, any inline spinner will catch them. PS there is no deep water on the eastside, if they are there, they'll look like a turd in the punchbowl. easy to spot.

    Uhh, have you ever actually fished the mile streams? Deeper water is like, um, 18" instead of a foot. The only sure bet for smallies in PA is Elk- and summer is generally a bit too late. Try April to May. Ohio has some good bets too...

    On an calm day the mouth of a mile stream might produce better than the creek during spring and early summer.
