North East

I have heard that the lakers are being caught out of North East.  I was thinking of giving it a try and was wondering if anyone would care to help me out by giving me some info.  I need some info on this before I decide to go since not only have I never fished for lakers, but I don't even know where the North East marina is at( I have never ventured east of Shades).  I am not looking to "spot burn" anyone, I just need a baseline of information to get started.

Go to the mps section of this site, and click on "lake Erie" map,( hint: It's called North East for a reason ). Print map, head for "the hills" , pull spoons, and drag your balls through the mud.

Anyone ever do well in this area from shore?  I fish 20 mile for steelies, and have wanted to fish around the Marina, but have never had the chance.

With a big spoon....I can cast **** near that far!

Yesterday was the first time I had fished there. I was quite surprised how fast it got deep. Quite a difference from Walnut.

Im a little late with da pics. Slick beat me too it but I have a few more from the evening of trolling around. Although there was a calm north east wind the water was too nice not to go out and try to hook up.

here is that smallie I got in shallower waters. This one measured 19 inches which beat my previous smallie record of 17 inches. 3 pics of the same fish but like I says its the biggest one ive caught to date so Im showing it off.

Mike , I fish the caddy everywhere . I aint scared of the big pond. Im just scared of what it can be ,and thats why I go out when I know Ill be fine. I leave before it gets bad. You just have to keep eyes and ears open for changes.Use common sence for 14 years in that thing and Im still fishin it everywhere.

    loco- maybe

You're kind of scaring me!  But I would never fish the mountain in your lovely old boat.  It's too far out and we all know how the weather can change quickly.  Perhaps on a picture perfect day.  Sometimes you don't have enough warning.  I'll give you props for your 14 years, however some of us have been on the lake for 30+ years.  Yeah, we're old!  You know how quickly Lake Erie can change,  and I really hope that you stay safe.

nekeno thanks for the wise advice and your right only have had the boat for 14 years but have been on it out for 25 at least. dont be afraid I plan on being out in dat caddy for many years to come. I know my limits and watch the weather closely. I have no problem with 4 footers as long as there not breaking and are far apart. As soon as I see em breaking its time to go cause its only gonna get worse.
