As originally "cooked up" when the "Spoon is real" thread got hijacked :
http://forums.fishusa.com/Spoon_is_real/m_247759/tm.htm

Okay folks, it looks like the majority opinion is the following:

Location: MP Coney Island on Rt. 18. New Castle, PA
Day: Sunday, November 8.
Time: 6pm

The downtown Coney Island was a bit more popular, however it is closed Sundays.

The address record in google is 2712 Wilmington Rd. (Rt. 18), New Castle PA (in case anyone is coming from out of the area or is not familiar with it). The address shown in the streetview capture (below) isn't correct.

And please... Remember to bring your appetite.

...I was going to suggest the winner eats free (other 'contestants' split his tab). But then that could get ugly quick...and expensive!

The one downtown is better. Don't as me why, same owner, same sauce, but it just is.

Parking could be an issue downtown though.

i have only been to the one downtown, but i can vouch that they are pretty darn good (my sarah palin impersonation).  if it is on a weekend during the day, i can make it.  (i will be bringing my cholesterol meds and tums for anyone who may need some).

Seems like most are attracted to the weekend-day rather than weekday-evening.

A Saturday or a Sunday?

My personal pref is Sunday/ dinner rather than lunch - just in case we pick it to fall on a good fishin' day in Erie.

Thoughts?

Commander,

It will ruin you for the Brighton dog shop.

They have two shops in New Castle. The one on Washington street, and one on Rt.18. The one on 18, is probabley the most convenient for such a get together.

Sunday evening is best for me, but I can do pretty much any day, or time.

Allrightie then, everyone is hungry I see!

To do:

Day: Maybe a week from Sunday? That would make November 1. Is that enough time or should we plan a little further ahead?

Time: Afternoon/Evening seems to be the preference. Sometime between 3pm and 6pm? Vote?

Location:
Location #1: Rt.18
Location #2: Washington Street

(Personally, I vote #1, but I'm partial. Any which one is happy for me though.)

Wondering - how many of you folks will be coming back from Erie fishing then (weather permitting)? Might make a good time for telling the day's war stories! Just given that it is a weekend-day makes it a likely possibility that I will be in Erie that morning. Anyone else fishing then let me know if you want to hook up.

I'll update the first post when we nail down the time and preferred Coney Island location.

Anybody ever have a "Margie Dog"? There's a small bar/restaurant up the hill from the steel mill in Sharon that makes them. They have a hot pepper topping that is amazing.

Oh man - my friend was telling me about them the other night. Actually the name of the place may be the Lighthouse I think. I don't live too far from there. Where are you from anyhow, bulldog?

I'm going to have to vote against Sunday November 1. I know I suggested it. I just (re)learned that I had previously promised that day to someone.

Well, I don't think quite "scheduled" yet. Just kind of tossing around dates.

Second Sunday in November (8th) sound good for anyone?

Either of the 1st 2 sundays in November work for me.

As for the uptown-downtown. The difference isn't that great ( probabley wouldn't be noticed by most ). Like I said, same owners, same sauce recipe. I think it's how they prepare ( chop ) the onions, or how the buns are steamed/grilled. Could also just be a mental thing with me ( I grew up going to the one downtown, and have many great memories ).

One other thing ( if it matters ) they serve beer downtown, but not uptown. Makes no difference to me.

Just a little food for thought lol, if you choose the one downtown you can fish the Neshannock Creek easily which is only about three blocks away.

SO!

Let's set it for sunday Nov. 8, 2-6pm ( pick a time ), and plan on the rt.18 location ( I don't think downtown is open sundays ).

This may not work for everyone, but it doesn't have to be the only gathering. Personally, I could do an every, or every other month "dogfest".

Again, sorry about the first Sunday - I have a hole in my head somewhere where data leaks out once in a while.

I noticed a couple mentions for second Sunday in November (8th).

6pm sound good? That way, if anyone is fishing Neshannock or Erie in the morning, there will be time to get back.

As for location, the downtown one seems to be preferred a little more here than the one on 18. Location for me makes no difference.

It's been a while since I've been to the downtown one. Does anyone here know if there are moving table arrangements there? The one on 18 has booths. If the one downtown has movable tables there, it might be handy to push 'em all together to make a big table for everyone to sit around.

Unless there are any objections, I'll set the top thread to make it Sunday, November 8 at 6pm and the location to the downtown one. With maps & pics if I can find 'em.
