Has anyone fished Long Run? I noticed it on the Fish Commissions map. Can you tell me where it is located in relation to route 48 in white oak? I travel route 48 to get to the yough in little boston, but have never noticed anything that seemed worth fishing along the way. FC says its approved for trout.

Anyway, can anyone tell me where I might fish "Long Run" and if it's any good?

Thanks!!

Dave

That little creek next to 48 IS Long run.  Years ago, someone put some dams in it, like the ones they put in to create holes and places for fish to live.  But that was before the Oak Park Mall was built, and much of the stream bank was wooded.  It used to have trout stocked, even tho it is real small, and looks polluted.  I used to fish those manmade pools when I was in college.  Later, I lived in White Oak, and fished there occasionally.  The last time I tried was over ten years ago.  The banks are strewn with litter, or were then.  That creek is too small to support trout year round, but you could try around opening day.  There are some suckers in there was well.

Wow, as I drove past it yesterday I thought...that MUST be it, but couldn't bring myself to believe that trout could survive in there. Guess I will skip it. Seems Loyalhanna is the bet trout fishing close by...that can be eaten anyway, no?

Thanks very much for your replies foolks!!! It's greatly appreciated!

It used to be loaded with creek chubs or minnies or some sort of small fish.

Polluted stream.  Only stocked for local kids.  Total sewer worse than Turtle Creek.
