Well I haven't been able to make any reports this summer because unfortunately I haven't been able to get out fishing much at all.  My wife is recovering from a pretty hefty surgery and will be for the next 10-12 weeks.  So although the Snyder's Lake tournament seems right up my alley, I will not be able to attend.  However, you can pretty much count me in on any such "get togethers" in the future.

Anyway,  I do have this to report.  My father made it out on Lake George yeasterday and did very well- 8 fish, 2 keepers.  Apparently this fishing was real good, but as seems to be the case all too often this summer, I wasn't there!  Nonetheless, thought it might be useful to some of you.

Tight Lines.

All the fish were lakers.  Another monster was supposedly lost at the boat as well.  They were trolling lures using a downrigger.

I enjoy trolling for landlocks and big trout, I am going to use these small dipsey divers called (Big Jon)  they can be adjusted for both diving and plaining off to the side. I find them to be very useful in getting lures  25 30 even deeper when stop and rowing  in a small boat. I like downriggers but these things are so much easier to manage when carrying tackle through a trail is an issue. When going solo, it usually takes me two trips back and forth from my truck  through a small trail to the rowboat. I use a small school backpack as a fish gear bag. Usually can fit everything I want to bring such as plano boxes for some terminal tackle/ a portable fish/dept finder/a rain jacket etc. two fishing poles / my two titelock clamp on rod holders and a certified seat cushion flotation  which fit in my net. Now I  can carry my net and my two rods  in one hand/  my backpack on , I can  manage a small cooler and velcroed together oars in my other hand. usually thats it unless i'm bringing a bait bucket or nighttime latterns or extra fishing equipment than I got to make an extra trip. I try to keep it as compact and simple when fishing solo.
