Status: offline 		I am looking for some advice on where to try for my last time out on the big water for the year.  Please understand I am not trying to start a debate either.  This will be only my third time fishing the big water for myself and my results have not been the greatest.  I am hoping to hear some suggestions, advice, tips, tricks, ect. to help finish my walleye season on the Lake with a bang.

Status: online 		Some say launch out of Bula, some Connie, some North East. How do you know ????? Look @ the reports and pick thru for the most consistent. Wish I could help but as with all fishing so much changes day to day. One thing for sure, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE PLENTY OF COMPANY !!!  Been 2 weeks since my last and found them pretty quick (with some help) in 65' N of Bula (always a good starting point). Check w/CB & some others for some specifics (PM's are a good way to go for #'s being it's probably going to be crowded this weekend - I always try to steer clear labor day weekend if possible) I wouldn't go near Walnut this weekend (just my opinion). Good luck & I hope for all of younzes the weather is kind this weekend.  Dave

Status: offline 		If you want to head out of Conny, OH, call this # 1-440-593-3755 then press 1.  This will give you weather/waves report and a good depth of water to get started.  I would troll west toward Ashtabula if the waves allow.  If heading out of Walnut or Presque Isle area, reports have been decent out in the deeper, 75+ FOW, off the point but I'd be willing to bet the trenches will produce now as well.  I'm headed up this weekend to the new camp with the family...depending on the forecast, trying for eyes/boat or some early steel.  Good Luck!

Fathead,

As of right now I am planning to launch from either east ave or lampe possibly saturday evening and definately sunday morning.  I would prefer to fish in PA just for the convenience mainly and I know there are plenty of fish to be had.  My biggest concern about fishing that area is that the deeper water (80+) is intimidating and seems like it will be hard to fish.  The boat I will be fishing on is my brothers which is a fairly new purchase and does not have any riggers on board yet.  We have plenty of dipsy setups and leadcore, will that be sufficient to reach the fish?  If so which dipsy's should we use the #1's or the magnums?  Sorry about the rookie questions but, I am pretty new to this and I would really like to have a good weekend.

Status: offline 		#1 I prefer Walker deeper divers but if you already own dipsy'd they are fine. Most of our fish are off dipsy's. Can you run 3 on each side of his boat? (If you have 3 people on board). It's really simple out there nothing to be intimidated by. Hopefully you run linecounters with braid for dipsy's. Your welcome to follow me out Sunday AM if you want I will leave my dock around 5:00 am maybe 5:30 am and should be coming out of the channel about 10 or 12 minutes after that. It's best to get your lines in the water as it starts to get daylight. the bite has been nuts the first hour the last few weeks. 3-4 fish at a time can't keep rods in the water. PM me a phone number or I can give you mine.

Status: offline 		We have braid and linecounters for the dipsys.  We will be fishing out of a 19' boat and we can easily fish 4 dipsys, we have not tried to fish more than that yet since it has only been the 2 of us each trip.  I think we can safely run 5 rods and probably 6 without too much of a problem providing we have an extra set of hands on board.  As long as the weather forsecast stays the same we will be out on the lake tomorrow afternoon.

Status: offline 		EXELLENT Weather and fishing on the big pond this weekend WoW are we lucky to have this in our backyard, limited on the YEALLA'S today in deep water along with 5 other species of fish caught. Including the slimers. Sunsets are almost better than the fishing..

Status: offline 		Got out on the lake around 5pm on 8-30 and headed to 90fow from Lampe.  Caught 3 nice eyes and lost one at the boat.

Followed capt. Wayne from Hawg Wild Charters out on 8-31 in the morning.  Headed out to 90fow again and landed 5 eyes right of the bat.  #3 dipsy's on 3 setting 185 back and #1 dipsy's on 1 setting 180 back.  We got 3 on stingers and 2 on thundersticks.  We were having the same problem as them, we lost at least 5 fish and had a handful of other fish trip the dipsy's and had nothing to show for.  We had non-stop action until about 9am and the bite disappeared.  We did land about an 8# steelie around 10 and that was it.  We didn't exactly tear them up by most peoples standards but, for 2 rookies out on the lake I was more than happy with our results.  By the way all of the eyes ranged from 22-26" for the most part.

Thanks for all the help to those of you who replied.  I owe a special thanks to Capt. Wayne for his generosity and taking us out Sunday and putting us right on top of the fish!

Status: offline 		Your welcome! I wish the bite would have continued, that was the first day the bite stopped totally. I did put my boat back on the trailer and will be fishing from the nut the next couple trips out. If your going back out give me a call. Glad you had a good day. By the way we caught a couple bigger fish but 22-26 was the average that day. I fished out of the nut on Monday and the bigger fish were in 70-72 feet of water.
