Is this worth visiting at this time of the year if we are in the area? Never been there. May have access to a little aluminum boat with a trolling motor.

I can't say for sure but, I bet the fish will be trying to fill up for winter.Bass and crappie are plentiful and the last time I was there the weeds weren't to bad.Good luck.
