not alot of standing timber. buy a allegheny res. guide map that shows were tire reefs and brushpiles have been put in place. there are plenty of fall downs in deeper water .

Late August can be tough on Kinzua for walleye's the fish should be pretty deep during the daylight hours. This time of year it's best if you can fish the evening and night hours for the eyes. If not sometimes you can pull some bottom bouncers with shinny (silver) crawler harnesses and pick up a few nice ones. If you can fish during the night hours you can target some of the flats, humps, road beds where walleye will move in to feed. Another good thing to try is Northland gumdrop floater worm harnesses in blue and white and orange and chartreuse behind a 1.5 to 2 oz bottom bouncer and drifting or trolling with a electric trolling motor.

Good Luck

Try north of Willow Bay on Reservation Water-you will need a Seneca Reservation fishing license.
Sugar Run is probably the place to go in PA waters.
The area past Redbridge in PA has cribs-my boat is too big to get in there.
Try drifting the middle for Stripers.

Hook Line and Sinker might be able to help you with where to go and also sells minnows and other bait.
They are just before The Willows Restaurant about a mile and a half before Willow Bay coming from Bradford 814 362 4059

Slavens Country Cupboard
3461 W Washington St Bradford, PA (814) 362-2363,
is about a mile from Willow Bay and has minnows, bait, gas, maps, Official Measuring Station they might have Reservation Licenses NOT SURE

And don't expect much help from the locals.
Also-I think very few people consistently catch fish there!

I heard the dam was underfished and has great potential.  All the tailrace produced so far for me were a few decent rainbows, but it's always in the dead of summer.  Seems like the opportunities at the tailrace may increase depending on the time of year.

as was already mentioned Grissly Gary is your best bet for info. unless you give them i.d. and a copy of your birth certificate to prove youre from Bradford or the surrounding area, you will get ZERO info from locals, bait shops or businesses in the area. if you have access to an Aqua-Vu or any underwater camera use it. the lake is extremely clear and the camera works great. one thing i can tell you is STRUCTURE, STRUCTURE, STRUCTURE. lots of pine trees dumped in the lake. i ASSUME they dump christmas trees or dead pine trees. there are lots of them, especially along the shoreline.

A lot of the bays have tires, cribs or Christmas trees tied to cement blocks.

You can see them when the dam is partially drained for winter.

The only way to get help up there is to hire a guide or take an experienced local out on your boat.

Fished Kinzua my whole life, it can be tough at times (August).  I fish mainly on the reservation but if I were to fish Pa. I would be in sugar bay trolling 3oz bottom bouncers with floating crawler harnesses in silver or gold colored indiana blades# 2 or 3's, 35 - 45 fow. Check the bait shop in the east side of Warren, they WILL give you good info(they actually like making money and want your business and REPEAT business) GRIZZLY GARY is a good info site also kinzua outdoors as mentioned above by willow creek. I have never caught nor has anyone I know ever caught a striper or hybrid in kinzua. There are some decent size white bass.

I was catching what I thought were sub-legal hybrids
They might of been 15-17 inch white bass

DARN- That might of been a nice dinner!

This time of year I would avoid the structure items and troll silver shad raps (spottail imitations).  Use in line boards and or lead core to get down to where the bait is.  Start at the trash boom and troll the shady side up the lake keeping an eye out for bait schools.  Weekends are almost a waste of time a Kinzua though.

Finally, the new ownership at the bait shop formerly known as Pages does a nice job and if he knows where the fish are he will tell you.  I'm pretty sure the new name is Allegheny Outdoors, address same as above, new name.

good riddance to them. dont know the reason for the change but we went into Page's once and only once. there was a fella behind the counter giving us some info(1st time we ever fished Kinzua) and the owner appeared and the info stopped. pretty funny. must have thought we'd steal all the fish from the lake.

Yeah, that's what it used to be like.  You went in there to spend money and he acted like he was doing you a favor by even waiting on you.

Yeah, the old owner was a real @$$.... The new name escapes me but it is something like ALLEGHENY OUTDOORS as mentioned above. Same location. I do not get over on the east side much and I really was only in there 3 or 4 times early this spring ( make my harnesses, catch crawlers, have lots of cranks) The new owner seemed very enthusiastic about changing the scene there when I talked to him, and from what I've heard they are doing a fine job. Enjoy Kinzua Country it is a beautiful place. Us locals are'nt keeping any secrets it's just a hard place to figure out. One day it's on fire the next it is the dead sea. The 2 web sites mentioned in the above comments are great info for the area. Both guys have alot of knowledge and they are more than willing to help a new angler to the area.

What's the primary forage in Kinzua?

Do the 'eyes suspend like they do in some of the giant upper Midwest Reservoirs??? Oahe, etc.??

STORM WARNING 2  -Spot tail shiners, emerald shiners, perch. I don't know how serious anyone is about targetting suspended fish here. I have done it and caught a few nice size eyes in the Pa waters. Mainly I fish on the north end of the reservoir where it is more like a large river. Yes we do catch some suspended fish here on cranks, I mainly  fish  bottom bouncers/harnesses. Although this last years tournaments alot of the top guys were trolling cranks in deep water.

Spot tail imitations seem the best to me  Silver Shad Raps.  The walleyes suspend in August.  If you can find where a point extends out to where the bait is you can vertically jig.  Otherwise big water trolling methods work as long as the excessive boat traffic doesn't get in the road.  Weekends are tough. As soon as you set up a trolling pass a bass boat will run right in front of you, stop and make three casts.  As soon as you swerve out of the way he fires up and runs down the lake 50 mph so the next one can screw you up.  Worse than jet skis.

WELL SINCE THE IDIOTS FROM BRADFORD COUNTY DECIDED TO DUMP CRUDE INTO THE CREEKS, IM NOT GOING TO MAKE THE TRIP.  BUT I REALLY APPRECIATE EVERYONE GIVING ME GOOD SUGGESTIONS FOR MY FISHING TRIP, HOPEFULLY MOST OF THE DAMAGE CAN BE CONTAINED BEFORE IT DESTROYS MUCH MORE.  THANKS AGAIN!
